My trusty 6mm Remington 700 that I've had for about 30 years. Just checked it this weekend and had overlapping shots 1.5 inches high at 100 yards. No reason to use anything else!

Until it's the spring turkey season. Then I'll pull out the old Browning Auto 5.

If meat hunting I use a Remington 700 Sendero in 22-250. I have some 55gr TSX handloads that are humming at a swift 3500fps for maximum stopping power and minimal meat loss with upper neck shots.

If not this, than Fierce 7 PRC or my old school Ruger M77. 257 Roberts.

Remington 788 in 7-08, 120gr TTSX over RL-17. Outstanding performer.
If hunting a creek bottom brush stand, a Howa bolt gun in 7.62x39, 123 TSX over CFE BLK, the Commie cartridge really responds to reloading, 200+ fps boost in MV.

Either a Marlin 336 30-30 JM stamped or a suppressed Ruger SFAR .308.

Bought a 6.5 Grendel upper for my son to use this year, it has already drawn first blood a few weeks ago with an MLD doe tag...ill honestly probably use it too. It is a really sweet shooting rifle.

Otherwise I shoot a 30-30 with a simple 3x9 scope works great for most shots on my lease

The 6.5G has been such a deer and pig DRT round for me that I have to actively make the decision to grab something else.

Most often Hornady 123 gr SSTs. But I've got some cheapo AAC black Sabre tip in 123 that the deer haven't noticed the difference. Lol.

Shooting my grandpas early '80s Remington 700 .308 Win. I've used the federal premium sierra matchking that are 168 grain. I like it out to 200yds but 300yds it starts to drop quite a bit. I don't know enough about bullets to know how to adjust for less of a drop.

You going to be hunting in Fayette county this year? Should meet up at the Fayette County gun club. They have targets out to 300yds.

My wife is using the same New England single shot youth model .223 I bought off of Texags a few years ago. She shot her first deer with it and refuses to touch anything else.

I took a spike yesterday with my trusty Savage 116 Weather Warrior 270 WSM that I bought from a poster on here in 2010 I believe. Winchester Supreme 140gr Accubond. Vortex 4X12x40.

Son will be hopefully getting his first deer this year with a 6.8 SPC II shooting a Wilson Combat round tipped with a 110gr Barnes TSX. The rifle upper was built for me by a poster and I married to a lower I already had. Nikon Monarch 2.5x10x42

Savage 110 tactical in 6mmARC. SWFA scope on top of it. All in, less than $1k set up, minus the suppressor (omega 300).

Using 103gr ELDX handloads...31.8 grains of Leverevolution.

Kid shot a small MT mule deer (his first deer) at 165 yards this weekend. Complete pass through, tore up both lungs, nice big exit hole.

Nealan, what is the barrel code on it? Is it a pre-freedom group buyout rifle? If it is, and you are close, I will accurize it for you. The rifles made after the buyout don't have the quality of barrel and trigger.

Wow, it should shoot a lot better than that then. Are you trying to shoot the new fangled tipped ammo? The old school ammo will be better I bet. I know after the buyout there were 1:9 and 1:10 twist rates with the mountain rifle being the faster. But 1:9 is too slow for heavier bullet weights over 120g. Maybe yours is a 1:9 and you can try a 120 grain.

May I ask who did the bedding?

I ordered a new 6.5 Creedmoor for the same reason yall buy them.. just wanted something new. I started doing some research after purchase for the right ammo and saw some mixed reviews and that its great at long range but some of the bullets do weird things on closer shots.

Most of my shots are whitetail at <200 yards.

Can someone help with some real life ammo suggestions ?
