And if you REALLY like wood and the custom process, Todd Rameriz or Aaron Little can build you a bespoke rifle. These East Texas gunsmiths build fine rifles. The left hand rifle that Todd built for me many years ago has traveled the world and is a killing machine. Double square bridge GMA left hand action, Pacnor barrel, exhibition grade Turkish walnut, express sights, Smithson quick detach rings, S&B scope, etc.

I always wanted a Dakota Model 10. Didn't realize they had rebranded.

Was at a friends place with a bunch of folks shooting skeet and making some trap boxes to throw from. It was more of a work day but we did shoot some. One of the kids "everyone thinks" put a pretty expensive shotgun behind my truck sometime a few minutes after I closed the tailgate and got in the cab. I made a phone call and then started backing up and felt that I had run over something and hear everybody saying stop. I was freaked out I had run over a kid. After looking at it and feeling like crap I was told not my fault and all that. Weeks later I was told they used the epoxy that they use on log cabins and sawdust and some color to match. I could not tell there was a crack at all. And told it cannot break in that spot ever again.

I got one of Horizon's 22 CMs along with a 7PRC. That 22 CM suppressed is a great hill country deer gun.

Very happy with my daughters APR, except build time but I happily ended up with her temp rifle while waiting.

Its probably bounced around in a scabbard on horse hundreds of miles now and been in/out -10 to 100 degrees. Its perfectly balanced for her. I cant recall all components on top of my head but 3 of Jeremiahs for sure. Have the build on my computer if anyone wants it.

In 4 years only adjusted zero 3-4x mostly going from 800' in texas to 8500' in Montana along with an ammo lot change. Still a tac driver.

They keep 20 or more rifles on the shelf to sell. If you do not want to wait, you can buy one ready built. They have some good ones listed available on their website. It is a cool place to visit. I have kept in contact with a few of their builders/salesmen over the years.

I would buy this on in a heartbeat if I did not already own a similar build.

You might look at getting him a Bergara and then putting some really nice glass on top.

I guess I'm a Fudd. I'm toeing the waters of getting a rifle built, but I'm going more old school traditional i think versus all of these companies named here -

Win 70 pre-64 action, trued/blueprinted
Shilen barrel, 6.5-284 caliber
Timney trigger
Leupold scope, probably a VX-3 4.5-14x40
Wood stock with action pillar & bedded
High polish deep blue finish - I want to replicate the older blue finishes as much as I can

It's on the wish list anyway, but I can say I've started looking much harder at acquiring some of the parts and pieces. We have a really good smith close to home that will put it all together for me. Hell, he may even let me hang out and be his helper if I ask nice enough.

I have an early win rifle from my grandfather. It's great. Try an impact 737 action. Similar to the win action but more positive bolt handle raise and lower. Most of the customs are all based on the Remington 700, just improved with more precise machining. You would love it. Can order a pre cut barrel or have one made. Tolerances are so tight you do can assemble at home. Can add the rest of the stuff you are wanting but if you ever need to rebarrel just order a new one and screw it on.

Quick note to say thank you to everyone on this thread. Has been a pleasure getting to know Cowdoc and he is doing the build for me. Actually going to do one for me as well as the one for my son!
