I guess this isn't real outdoors, except that I do love to sit out on the porch with a cup of joe. Has anyone here ever tried Arbuckle coffee? It's what they call the coffee that won the west, because it's been around so long. Guess I read too many Louis L'Amour novels ( all of them, several times over) where they always had to get their Arbuckles coffee. Anyhow, got curious about it, and it is still made, although kinda pricey. Really having trouble finding coffee that tastes good to me anymore, so ordered 2 varieties from them. As the all knowing outdoor board KNOWS STUFF, just thought I'd check and see if anyone else drinks it. Thanks!

$24 x lb on Amazon. I will let you try it out and report back. Hope it is good!

Hmm. Only 22.95 for the Plainsman variety, and 23.50 for Ariosa from Arbuckle themselves. But I will do my best to give a proper review upon completion!

We started buying Aerial Resupply Coffee a few months ago and really like it. Good coffee, veteran owned, and the owner isn't a d bag like Matt Best.

We buy whatever HEB sells and it tastes about he same as anything else I've had except better. On sale it's about 7 bucks per pound, seems reasonable but it has gone up in price. Not sure if I've ever had Arbuckle but if it's 24 bucks a pound then I've 100% never bought it.

I'm a huge fan of Stocking Mill Midnight run. Easier to come by are Independence Jet Fuel and Peets Major Dickinson. Whole beans, fresh ground, and a Mochamaster coffee maker make a big difference too

My regular is "Jet Fuel" from Independence Coffee. Little outfit out of Independence, TX and I really like it. Used to get it at HEB but they stopped carrying it as whole beans so now I order direct and it's like $60 for a 5# bag of beans.

Never been exposed to good coffee until a coworker recommended https://konacoffeepurveyors.com/ - now I drink it every morning and ensure we don't run out. It is worth a look

Folgers classic roast for over 50 years.
Of course, back then it was just Folgers.
I still love the smell while it's brewing.

+whatever on Independence Jet Fuel. Order it 10# at a time from them. Started drinking it way back when they were just starting out in Brenham and I was taking a couple classes at Blind. 2004ish maybe.

I mostly use a coarser grind and do pour over, but it's good as standard drip too.

Never cared for Folgers that much. Liked Maxwell House ok, till recently. Last 2 cans I bought just don't taste the same. Know lots of you guys like the HEB coffees, but don't have one close.

HEB has done a great job cloning Folgers Classic...or it's just repackaged.

I'm doing a custom blend for my Gunslinger Salsa customers. It's getting a lot of love. Dark roast high caffeine blend of Indian and Ethiopian Arabica beans and Guatemalan Robusta beans. Delicious.

We love Independence Jet Fuel. I also really like a brand I can't find anymore. I also don't remember its name. It was Colombian and in a clear plastic with yellow label (whole bean). It was so good.

Dad is that you? Thats all my parents have forever.

My wife and I buy HEB Columbia whole bean. It's great for a daily drinker. Occasionally, I'll get some of the other types, but that's our go to.

This is my go-to for the espresso machine. My favorite is the Big Bear, but the Beans Blend is also good. Great coffee from a really nice guy that roasts locally.

I'll add that a good cup of Maxwell House from the drip pot still hits right. Kind of like Copenhagen. I don't have it often, but when I do...

We like the H-E-B coffee. As a matter of fact I'll stop in and restock while I'm in HEB country. Closest one to us is in Lubbock 3-1/2 hours away.

I always feel like I'm being judged when I buy 10-12 bags of coffee and nothing else.

I like Mystic Mink coffees https://www.mysticmonkcoffee.com/

My favorite currently is the Cowboy Blend Coffee.
I think it's about $15 for 12 ounces ground. They also do whole beans, etc.

I dont buy much bulk coffee anymore, just a bag or two of whole beans of whatevers been roasted most recently by my local shop.

Theres a big difference in beans roasted and ground a month ago and something roasted this week and ground this morning.

Whats yalls preferred brewing method?

I'll occasionally do pour over, aeropress, french press or turkish but mostly I like to make a huge jug of cold brew and then have coffee on demand for a few days.

Sonic Red Button Roast used to be the best, before they switched to Green Mountain. The old coffee tasted like Douwe Egberts, which is still one of my favorites.

Mount Hagen instant coffee is my 1st choice these days. 1.5 scoops tastes better than any of the expensive brands imo.

Its bougie, but several years back, my wife and I bought a fully automatic espresso machine. We put in whole beans, and it grinds them before it pours a coffee, an espresso, latte, etc. Now, it really doesn't matter which coffee we use because it tastes so much better than what we had before (drip, nespresso, keurig, etc).

The only real kicker is that you can't use beans that are too oily (so most super dark roasts are out), and flavored coffees aren't good for the machine.

It doesn't save money even though we don't go to coffee shops very much, because there is a small cost for cleaning tablets and filters. Plus we buy fresh beans weekly instead of a 10lb+ bag. Also the machine cost a bit.

Best splurge we've ever bought in our marriage and we miss it when we are out of town.

When travelling, I often take my aeropress and use a Central Market in-house coffee thats in the medium roast level, low acidity level.

Fully agree with this post. Headcount is putting out great stuff especially their light to medium roast.

Polite Coffee in Bryan runs an outstanding shop as well. The owner has an immense knowledge of varieties and roasting techniques.

But my daily, and it really is a good clean and smooth coffee is Community Coffee breakfast blend. It's affordable and just a good solid coffee to start the day.

We have a Jura ENA 6 (I think that model is no longer available). I'm probably jinxing myself now but we've had no troubles. It provides all the prompts (fill water, change water filter, clean milk system, clean system, empty tray) etc and we follow them so maybe that's part of it. Friends and family I know with a Jura have had similar praise for reliability.

My biggest concern was the regular cleaning requirements but its no more (and maybe less) work than a drip coffee. You have to empty out the grounds and the drip tray and that takes about a minute. The regular cleanings take longer but you can wander off while its happening and it hasn't been an issue for us.

There are price drops regularly so if you're patient and flexible with the particular model, you can probably get a good deal. I just looked at the ENA prices and ours was similarly priced but we found it for 40% off in a clearance sale. I've seen similar deals since then when helping friends purchase one.

In the market for a coffee maker. Curious what model Mochamaster you have and if quality moves between models. Thx

Yeti French Press

Ok… I'm not a yeti fan boy but have slowly added yeti gear to collection as RTIC and Polar gear wears out. I work as a fly fishing guide and beat the hell out of my gear (aka use daily). I struggled to find a French press that was big enough and tough enough for my lifestyle until Yeti made one.

The YETI French press is great! I have the 34 oz and use it daily. When I head to my camper trailer for work, I take it with me (need to order a 2nd). When it falls out of the truck, nothing breaks. I laughed when I saw them release it, wondered what moron would buy it…. If you like French press coffee and need something bigger-/tougher; get one!
