I'm a huge fan of Chemex pour over. I used to like French press but hated cleaning. I grind Lavazza Super Crema that i get from Amazon. Pretty much all I drink at home.

Caribou is our everyday. Not a bad price subscribing on Amazon.
Agree Folgers is hard to beat for aroma and price.
Illy is my favorite instant.

Independence backyard pecan at Costco. $18 for 2.5lbs cannot be beat. Use an electric kettle for the water and Aeropress for a cleaner French press style coffee

I'm a huge fan of Stocking Mill Midnight run. Easier to come by are Independence Jet Fuel and Peets Major Dickinson. Whole beans, fresh ground, and a Mochamaster coffee maker make a big difference too

In the market for a coffee maker. Curious what model Mochamaster you have and if quality moves between models. Thx

I was at the Williams Sonoma outlet last year and they had this one on sale after Christmas for $175 (unfortunately Red only). I can't compare to other models because this is the only one I've used

We like the H-E-B coffee. As a matter of fact I'll stop in and restock while I'm in HEB country. Closest one to us is in Lubbock 3-1/2 hours away.

I always feel like I'm being judged when I buy 10-12 bags of coffee and nothing else.

When I travel to Texas I always have coffee orders to fill for friends. People do look at you when you roll up with a dozen or more bags.

I dont buy much bulk coffee anymore, just a bag or two of whole beans of whatevers been roasted most recently by my local shop.

Theres a big difference in beans roasted and ground a month ago and something roasted this week and ground this morning.

Whats yalls preferred brewing method?

I'll occasionally do pour over, aeropress, french press or turkish but mostly I like to make a huge jug of cold brew and then have coffee on demand for a few days.

I buy the whole beans in 5# bags and grind them each morning. I have a Technivorm Mocha-master drip machine. I rarely mess with my French press anymore.

Mochamaster and Folgers Columbian, big can from Sam's. Best of both worlds and hard to beat on bang for the buck.

The US isn't even in the top ten of coffee consumption per person but the amount of options available is definitely a first world problem.

Lolpoors, nothing touches these lips but Kopi Luwak. Honestly, you have to wonder how some people come up with ideas like roasting the beans that come out of an animal's butt.

I wouldn't mind finding a better daily coffee, I hate spending the $18 or whatever it cost for something like Starbucks bulk or similar. I don't mind the Amazon brands but my wife doesn't prefer it. We all drink it black most of the time so nothing to hide if the coffee sucks.

You can taste the difference between French press/Aero press and pour over. We do pour over most of the time since we have 3 people drinking it but if I am making it for me I will use the Aero press. Taste better and smoother.

I can drink it but after a few days when I know there are better options I tire of it quickly. It is pretty bad.

I just drink whatever the vending service my company uses brings us. It comes in the bags that are also filters and it's not too bad.

We have a breville at home that my wife loves and it makes good coffee. I just hate having to worry about if I packed the grounds right and making sure it gets to the right pressure at 5:30am while I'm trying to go to work.

We've gone round and round trying to find a good coffee that is consistent. We just can't seem to do it with most of the small roasters. We finally found Folgers 1850 blends, which is some sub blend in their line. It's quite good. I'd like to say I'm not a snob who won't drink Folgers Classic roast or a plain old Maxwell House cup, but the 1850 really is a big step up from that.

I draw the line at Mellow Joy though.

What's the buzz coffee out of college station. The owner is (or used to be) on the world coffee board so he knows his stuff. Single origin beans are my go to. There's flavors for all types of people but damn is it good.

Also, if you use a French press, have some class and stop. Chemex or even drip coffee makes a wayyyy better quality cup.

My regular is "Jet Fuel" from Independence Coffee. Little outfit out of Independence, TX and I really like it. Used to get it at HEB but they stopped carrying it as whole beans so now I order direct and it's like $60 for a 5# bag of beans.

What brand espresso machine do you have? I've looked at them but been worried about reliability.

We have had great luck with Gaggia super automatics. We had one at our office - easy for clients to deal with - and we brought it home when we retired. Had it for about 20 years & it still works, but we upgraded on a new unit that we found on sale this Christmas. Mr. Schwack has the old one in his shop now.

We had the Titanium, now the Academia. It does everything & has lots of customizable drinks that you can choose from. Only thing we could complain about is the smaller water reservoir, but the milk carafe makes up for that. It makes delicious coffee.

Pretty much a coffee nerd. Start most mornings with an milk drink from the home espresso machine and then mix it up on weekends with chemex, v60 pour over, aeropress, or maybe even moka pot.

Most of the coffee I buy is from small roasters in Houston / Cypress areas. If I'm wanting to save a little I might grab Illy or Lavazza beans from a grocery store. Also, the HEBs around me normally have stuff from Counter Culture on sale and often has a roast date around 1 month ago.

I do drink at least a cup of Folgers or whatever the office drip machine has going

Eh taste is subjective. I prefer a pour over for most the coffees I buy, but it's mostly due to easier cleanup and having grinders more dialed in to drip / pour over range.

Most people use a French press incorrectly but with a little technique it makes a great cup. It works well for darker roast profiles and many would prefer the thicker mouth feel and more extraction on a French press brew.

Also when roasters cup or taste coffees they're using a similar grind size as French press.

It's not just roasters when cupping, but Q graders are using a coarse grind as well when cupping. It makes it easier to disperse the grinds when it comes to the drinking stage, but the aroma stage is early in the process so the aroma notes are captured quite early.

Drip has been my go to since its easy, fairly affordable to maintain or replace the machine if needed, a good compromise on the aroma and taste profiles of specialty beans and just plain convenience sometiimes. As mentioned, the daily is community breakfast blend, nothing magical.

But when the specialty blends or single origins show up in the morning, it's the Chemex for me. But a big part of knowing which coffee you like is how it is grown, processed, and roasted. I've learned my favorite specialty coffees are typically shade grown varieties from LatAm (especially Costa Rica), or Uganda.

If anyone is interested in ordering straight from a grower, Aquiares Coffe in Turrialba, CR. Especially the Esparanza (natural processed) and Caturra (washed process) varities. I tend to stay away from honey processed as it infuses more fruity notes than I like.

I do pour over coffee with a Chemex. I've got it down pat and have my recipe dialed in.

I enjoy trying different roasters and varieties and lately Summer Moon has been my go-to. The wood fire oak roasting gives it a nice balanced flavor.

Well..... gee. I feel pretty pedestrian with my little walmart drip machine. But I did say I would give a review on the Arbuckle coffee. Apparently the Arbuckle brothers were the ones to figure out a way to roast the beans, grind them and sell it in pound packages with a peppermint stick in it. Before that, beans were sold green and you roasted them yourself, and hoped you didn't burn them. I ordered the Ariosa variety, which is their original, and Plainsman variety. Tried the plainsman last couple of mornings, and I do like it. Better than the maxwell house I had been drinking. Will report on Ariosa later.

I use a Bialetti Moka Express with LaVazza beans. Start each day with a triple espresso. Rotate between different LaVazza beans.
