Africa was the same way; we picked, dried, and ground our own coffee. Had never had coffee taste like cinnamon or bananas before that, it spoils you.

Not a fan of flavored fufu coffees

I worked in Chasefu, Eastern Province, Zambia for 5 years and never saw or drank fufu coffee there. We didn't have a Starbucks there either.

He's not talking about a drink from starbucks that's 75% sugar and milk here, just the difference in flavor between freshly roasted beans and stale preground bulk stuff. Even as just black coffee.

The lengths some of yall will go through to try and sound tough on a keyboard about the most ridiculous things is hilarious.

I think I've told this story before but I was not a coffee drinker at all until I had kids. Then I needed the help.

So my big irrational new dad fear was spilling hot coffee all over a baby. So when I started drinking coffee I started making cold brew almost exclusively. I will make hot coffee with the aeropress or pour over with a hario v60 on occasion, but I still mostly make cold brew.

Picked up some of these on my last trip to the panhandle and liked the first bag so much I ordered a second: Bosque Coffee Roaster High Mountain Pinion. This time I tried the dark roast and it looks a little too oily for me, but the original high mountain was really good.

When I do cold brew I do a coarse grind and about a 1:11 ratio, then overnight in the fridge before I drink it, so usually 16-20 hours before I pull the beans out. This was 290g of beans and 110 oz of water.

I know some people prefer 1:8 for cold brew, but with this ratio its good to great basically straight from the jug, not super concentrated. I'll make a big jug of it and drink it for 3-4 days, then make another one.

Coffee mug to show scale.

This is how I brew coffee. I just fill it up about 3/4 full and add 4 scoops of Folgers in the filter. Lol.

Mostly local to the Austin area. Here are some of the roasters I rotate through:

- Greater Goods
- Tweed
- Medici
- Cuve
- Onyx
- Flat Track

Price point is somewhere between $15-$30/12oz bag of beans. I go through about 2 bags a week between me and my wife.

Chemex or V60 pour over is my typical method. Usually 1-2 cups per day.

I'm of the opinion that fresh beans are far more important than brew method. Garbage coffee using a pour over is still garbage coffee.

I'll still grab a gas station coffee in a pinch but I'm pretty snobby about coffee.

I dont buy much bulk coffee anymore, just a bag or two of whole beans of whatevers been roasted most recently by my local shop.

Theres a big difference in beans roasted and ground a month ago and something roasted this week and ground this morning.

This.

This is why I recommend Acquiares. I've had the privilege of touring their fields and processing facility. They provide coffee from many different processing styles. I tend toward washed processing as opposed to honey or natural.

Costa Rican coffee from Turrialba region is not a bad choice.

I agree with the even their typical grocery store bags. The lowest quality is 1820 cafe but it still makes a decent cup of coffee.
