I know there will be a **** storm of people saying "They (pit bulls) are the best of dogs, raised 12 children around them with no problem", to which I say BS! Would not let any person, child or adult, near these hair trigger killers.

I think we should eradicate all dangerous and scary dog breeds. Pitties, German shepherd, Doberman, etc.

Only thing anyone needs is one of those Golden Labra*****apoo or whatever the fad is they go to going on these days.

Answer: Lovable Labs.

Pits have a normal dog bite ratio to other breeds for the most part. But here is the problem….

They have an incredibly strong bite force. Much greater than 90% of all breeds.

They bite and hold/tear at their target much greater fervency than other breeds.

They are very aggressive when in a pack.

A Lab will bite and be done, a Pit will kill you.

Pits are not welcome on my property. Ever.

I'm not blaming the victim and I fully support the prosecution of the dogs owner.

My personal belief is nothing good happens after midnight. Of course, that's not 100% true but it's something I tend to uphold in my life.

I have seen good pit bulls. Some great ones too. The problem is that many are raised to be aggressive and too many idiots want a "tuff" and intimidating dog.

And unlike many other dogs that get into a tussle with another breed, they tend to maul or kill.

My last two dogs and current one have been labs. My next dog will be a lab.

Never had any issue with the breed. We foster and rehome many many dogs. Maybe full blood ones are bad, but all of our "scary dogs that look like pits" are fostered and rehomed as mixed breeds. I think it's more the 'type' of owner that tends to own the breed that is more the issue than the actual breed. Kind of like how when you see a lifted dodge ram diesel you know pretty well what kind of bonehead is behind the wheel.

I'm tired of being told I "misunderstand" the breed by pit owners. Believe me, I fully understand the breed and it's pointlessness in today's society. If you want to live with a terribly trained dog that might bite someone unprovoked at anytime, be my guest but I don't want your dog anywhere near me or my dog.

I really don't like the breed and the endless number of people who put their blinders on when you give any kind of negative feedback about them. "Adopt don't shop" has skewed peoples views when it comes to what dogs we need to keep in society and which ones we need to cull to improve the genetics of dogs as a whole. Pit bull genetics have done no good for the dog species.

one of my 8 year olds best friends has two pit bulls. he is not allowed to go to their house.

They have asked multiple times and we have just played the excuse card.

I told my wife eventually I will just have to tell the dad. I dont care. I am just assuming he will take it the wrong way. Oh well.

Our Vet told us a pit bull he saw swallowed a box of nails. He could not surgically remove them. That dog crapped every nail out.

From a purely technical genetic perspective, when you take a working dog (historically) and start breeding it for head size and girth you get a dog with problems. Anytime a dog is bred for looks instead of performance you have problems.

I hate that "America's dog" of the last century has turned into an ego extension for felons. Unfortunately that's where we are. Most people argue with us that our dogs are not "purebred" pit bulls because they are not obese or aggressive enough lol

Doesn't matter what time she was out. Maybe a nurse or similar that didn't get home till midnight or so. Pit bulls on the loose are bad news, I don't care how sweet you think they are. And they ARE aggressive towards other dogs.

I think you are an idiot to try to defend pit bulls. Here is no reason for the breed. I have never seen a news article describing a dog mauling where a pit bull was not the perp.
