Several burger loving friends have said the cheesburger, done smashburger style at The Owl is very good.

I really can't do the old traditional burgers with wide dry mrs. Bairds type buns anymore. Boring and tasteless.
You're doing it wrong, then!

Need to try this.

Have not tried myself but will this coming week. I haven't been doing many burgers lately. Top of the Hill, Carneys, and Washbangers were my go tos.

Curse these fitness regimens.

Have not been to Carneys since back in the day when it was only a bar. Is their food pretty good?

For bar food, yes.

Orlando, what is "wide dry mrs." in your post?

I think he meant -

Wide, dry Mrs Baird's - referring to the buns. Huge bun, tiny burger

Yup. Exactly. Usually also very dry.

My two current favorites are Margie's in Downtown Bryan and Better Beef Smashburgers. The latter is a food truck parked in front of The Ranch Harley Davidson and may be the best burger in BCS.

Does this place have regular hours? I checked out their Facebook page and didn't see any. Is it a lunch thing or a weekend thing?

According to this KBTX story, it's run by a teenager and they're open Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Ranch Harley-Davidson, with additional Saturday night pop-ups at Four Downs Sports Bar.

Wanted to give this thread a bump since Washbangers is gone.

Any new burger joints worth trying out?

Burger Garage in Navasota is good. A bit pricey and only 1/3 lb burgers. Very tasty though.

The burgers at The Station on 29th don't get enough love. They are great.

I'm sticking with Joe's Place and Top of The Hill. They really both inconvenient for most to get to, but they are 100% worth it.

If you guys haven't had a chance, the burger at Chimys on Texas toast is really good. They warm the toast to perfection, and you can build your own burger from the fixins bar. The waffle fries are always good and consistent. Idk about best in town but its in my rotation and always reliable and very good.

Chubby's is also good. Top of the Hill is great. We mostly go to Margie's when we want an awesome burger. Excited for the Chicken Oil to re-open and get my double meat deathburger with cheese!

My list is:

  • Top of the Hill
  • Burger House
  • Margie's (has replaced the late great Harvey Washbanger's)

Never tried it on Texas toast, but the jalapeno bun is also great.

Chimy's is my favorite burger that I have tried in BCS. There are several in this thread I have not had.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head. Only reason I don't go to Top of the Hill more is the distance.

The Owl. Damn good smash burger and the bang bang cauliflower is top notch. $2 High Life train beers are a plus too. Their menu is very short but done well.

Wife and I had bagels at Sunbeam (sister restaurant to the Owl) this morning and the Onion bagel with bacon, egg and cheese and a chocolate chip scone may be my new favorite breakfast.

Daughter ordered the burger at Ronin tonight. Definitely one of the best I've had in BCS. Too bad they're closing in a couple of days.

I'm also partial to the burger a few blocks down Main St. at Margie's. Totally different than the one at Ronin, but one of my favorites.

It seems I'm going to have to make that drive to Top of the Hill.

Margie's and Joe's Place are also solid. Guess you have to head to Bryan for a good burger.
