Gators aren't anything new. I jumped one 40 years ago walking along a creek while hunting in Houston County, just an hour east of here.
The Navasota River definitely has them.

I've burned grass with my feet a few times running from them down there while hunting.

The San Jacinto River has a lot of them.

They will scare the absolute %^*& out of you when one flushes near you. He was probably more scared of me than I was of him, but I wasn't hanging around long enough to find out, lol.

I have a place in Birch near Lake Somerville. We've had several crested caracaras there within the last 2 weeks. I watched 2 of them for 20-30 mins from a deer stand. Pretty cool looking. I've seen them in S Tx before but not in Burleson Cty. I've not done much research and they may be seen regularly by others.
