The Screamin Sacilian is HEB's best I think. I was dissapointed in the in-house made ones. The Detroit syle frozen Motor City deep dish has too much dough and not enough veggies and meat.
Walmart deli section pizzas are better. But I always doctor them with extra cheese and seasonings anyways
I always add more cheese and also shake a lot of dried Jalapeno on mine.

Wife was interested in the rolls I got the other night from Trackside but did not partake.

She asked me to go get some tonight.

She really loved the spinach, tomato, black olive, white cheddar roll.

She said the spinach, tomato, mushroom, onion was good but it was too much onion.

Loved the marinara dipping sauce but not the ranch. Liked the garlic butter sauce but said it could use more kick.

We will be get this again.

The Sith Lord at Rx is my favorite. Although, I don't see it on their online ordering menu anymore.

Lyle and Julia were regulars. Man back in the day we had so many celebs. Mikhail Baryshnikov, Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell, J.T. Walsh, spike Lee, George W, George Sr. over and over with Barbs, Lyle and Julia of course, many, many musicians of varying levels of fame.

I can't remember what it was called, but my favorite pizza there was one with roasted garlic cloves, and maybe chicken? That crust was the BEST.

Yes that was the pizza version of our most popular entree, The Rosie. It was roasted tomato-rosemary cream reduced and blended as a base with mozzarella, roasted garlic cloves, julienne chicken and finished with fresh rosemary. It was very simple but packed a flavor punch.

You didn't miss anything. I've ordered several times and gave them chances but it was greasy doughy pizza with lots of cheese. After eating it, your stomach hurt and you ask yourself why did I eat that cheesy mess. HAHA


I wasn't impressed either. I only ordered from the original location twice and the dough wasn't ever cooked. I thought Gumbys was better.



I guess it does not matter since they are gone. But we always got thin crust and it was great. I don't venture to hand tossed or medium thickness bc most places get it wrong. And I just like thin crust anyway.

Please please please make this happen. How can we help move the stars into alignment? I came to A&M in 94 and never left. The loss of Cafe Eccel at its original location and in its prime is a loss we still haven't recovered from.

Thanks Dr Boogs. It would be a very, very tall order and even if so the next iteration would be a scaled, smaller version. Staffing would be a nightmare and no matter what location.is chosen it will be blasphemous to a vocal minority that it's a far cry from the ambience of the original. But, duly noted lol. My quality of life is so much better now with the new concepts we've pivoted to, I'm not so sure I can go back. Maybe just, pizzas, salads, and few other items.

The Rosie was by far my favorite thing to eat there. It's sadly missed.

I still miss the Eccell bread pudding... It was the best in town. Poche's is pretty good but not quite equal and I liked the changing flavors at Eccell.

I agree, that was a classic back in the day and the location was part of the intrigue.

Haha I know. We'll see. Running that place was a lifestyle, not a career. When you make everything from soups to bread from scratch it's a ton of work. Hell we even made our mayo from scratch at the original.

I do think an Eccell Pizza could work in a smaller space etc. But, I'm not willing to trade my quality of life and family time I now have for it so it will have to be perfect. When I was younger it was a means to an end, but now I can actually choose to do it or not as I don't need it.

We get the requests all of the time and there's certainly a part of us that would like to personally see it again.

We have other irons in the fire now, so to do it would be a well decided labor of love under propitious conditions.

Yes of course lol. Lot more moving parts than that. And, when you can get more ROI for less work it's hard to choose to do something harder for less ROI.

We pay Houston and Austin rents here but can't charge their prices and don't have their sales. It's hard to justify unless everything comes together perfectly.

We got the spicy pepperoni from 1860 Italia and it was a great classic pizza for $20. Definitely worth considering.

1860 almost got shut down by the health department a couple weeks ago, so I don't think I'll be going there anytime soon, Doc.

Yeah I saw that as well. However the time right after a bad health report is likely the safest time to eat at that place as they fix the errors!
