I think the double roundabouts on WIlliam J Bryan are worse. Can't even go the speed limit on them without crossing white lines.

I drive WJB a couple of times a week and it feels like I am in a Grand Prix race through Monte Carlo with all the weaving through the curves, It must be some really strong drugs that the designer took.

I love the esses and roundabouts. 42 mph and just a little gas on the exit is fun. It stays in between the lines like a charm

Now the trailers and 18 wheelers on the other hand that are longer than each ess? Or longer than the curve in the roundabout?

The city needs to designate that as a non truck thoroughfare. No reason for any 18 wheeler to be between those roundabouts. They can go 21 and turn south on Texas

I actually think the 70 mph speed limit is too high through the city limits of Bryan and CS. Traffic is dense even outside of the typical rush hours.

To me on Hwy 6, 70 mph is perfect if people would drive it,

I think the state needs to hire a dozen more highway patrol officers and give a few hundred tickets on Hwy 6 every week for drivers who go 5 mph over the speed limit,

Honestly, those extra officers would be far more useful cracking down on drivers who impede the flow of traffic, crawl onto the highway without matching speed, or drive distracted. That's where the real danger is, not just a few miles over the limit.

No way. Some of the worst traffic jams on 6 are because CSPD has someone pulled over and everyone slams on their brakes.

In order to drive in the left lane for ANYONE, cars, trucks, cropdusters, suped-up mopeds, etc, you should have an additional license and car sticker identification (like those green car HOV stickers). This license should include advance training at high speeds in all conditions (except snow, nobody drives in snow) and to be retested every 4 years. Left lane speeds will be adjusted organically depending on road conditions.

Anyone driving like a complete idiot or without a "competent driver" sticker heavily fined, assigned a 3 day drivers ed course, as well as a hand-written apology to the competent drivers who may have been affected.

After 5 infractions, the driver will be downgraded to passenger and required to buy a Tesla with autopilot and the steering wheel removed.

There are lots of issues causing traffic in this town....so this is only one small solution to help.

No trucks in the left lane from Peach Creek to OSR.

The semi going 68 doesn't get to pass the semi going 64, All of them need to stay in the right lane, always, no exceptions.

OP, thank you for this thread. I wish the Hwy 6 Bypass had three lanes - would make your request a no-brainer.

When I first came here in 1972, there were two lanes each way on the Highway 6 Bypass. Fifty-three years later there are still only two lanes each way on the Hwy 6 Bypass. There hasn't even been a bandaid put on this (note, I don't consider the rearrangement of entrance and exit ramps a bandaid).

Totally ridiculous they haven't increased the number of lanes.

Now, there are going to be whole sale changes with construction non stop for five years on the Hwy 6 Bypass that include upper decks. I have lived here since May of 1995 and I am almost 76 years of age, I am seriously considering moving to another city closer to my children to avoid the upcoming interminable construction on the Hwy 6 Bypass.
