I heard that USPS renewed their lease just before HEB acquired the rights under Sunfresh and that killed any sort of outright purchase and redevelopment of the center.

Just a local real estate rumor, not sure that's entirely factual.

The post office has attempted to close a couple times; not sure where it is at currently.

The challenge with HEB as compared to other retailers is it is really hard to pin someone down and ask "what do you want/need?" Econ dev money, zoning help, someone to buy both centers and be the bad guy with current tenants? What?!?!
