Next Wednesday-Friday dropped like 20 degrees across the board on todays forecast vs yesterday's. Of course I moved all of our big projects from this week to next week thinking weather would be better.

Remember to trim those roses back by 50%. Neil has his suggestions for weekend green thumbs coming out later this evening.

Assuming we don't lose power, you should be able to minimize this happening.

And looks like it is currently forecasted to climb above freezing each day.

Welp looks like the forecast has changed. TSC is saying the high on Wed is 28. So we will spend a bit of time below freezing. As always we will see as the forecast adjusts.

Keep in mind the "feels like" temperature has no impact on whether water freezes or not.

Am I the only person shocked that there is not more discussion happening about the coming week? How am I supposed to plan?

I don't understand a lot of what the Storm 2K guys say, but in between all the acronyms and model names I can't keep up with, the consensus seems to be that it's going to be so cold, it will be almost impossible to bring much moisture with it. I think the chatter would be a lot different if there was snow in the forecast.

I've been waiting for FTAG to weigh in

All the local news stations are at least calling for freezing rain Tues night which will be a PITA

And yeah gonna be frigid for about 48 hrs

some of my weather apps have steadily increased the forecasted lows by a few degrees over the course of the day. Not seeing that reflected on the TV forecast. They have really upped the lows quite a bit down south in Houston.

Looks like low to moderate odds of freezing rain overnight Tuesday and we don't get above freezing until mid afternoon Thursday.

So looks like Wednesday will be a sucky day to go outside.
Some of the models show us staying below on Thursday and not getting above until Friday PM too.

That's about it for now, waiting on Monday runs to really lock in

Do you mean Tuesday night in regards of freezing rain odds? I'm hoping it stays on the Tuesday side. Have to fly out Wednesday AM.

I'm seeing partly cloudy with 30 as high on Wednesday and a couple degrees warmer on Thursday but mostly sunny again.

Not seeing this being much of an issue outside Tuesday night early Wednesday commutes.

Ponder seems to think we go below freezing Tuesday night and don't come out of it till Friday afternoon. There is some rain early Tuesday and whether or not Tuesday night- Wednesday becomes a s show is determined on if the rain clears early enough Tuesday.

All that being said, I've also noticed Ponder becoming a lot more dramatic as his name has grown and he's gone from local Texas to discussing national.

He was claiming it was going to be multiple rounds of an artic blast a couple weeks ago. It was in the 70's. He's been more wrong than right. But that's weather. Why the weather guys at the local stations pick on them.

There are models, and then there is reality.

Ponder has definitely become more sensational as his following has grown.

Yes meant Tuesday. Sorry about that.

Models are tending drier for Tuesday night but colder longer (Tuesday night through Friday noon for below freezing).

A couple show some light rain ahead of the front Tuesday, which would suck for roads and power. But not a lock just something new to watch.

My wife is due on the 25th.
Last time she was pregnant in 2022, she popped right before the February ice storm.
Curious if she drops early this week too.

Has this ever actually happened, in the history of the Republic of North Texas? I want to believe.

Montana and South Dakota are two of the most mosquito infested states. Whatever impact freezing temperatures have, I don't think it really matters much

Mosquitos will survive the cold. They actually make pesticide briquets that you can toss into the snow. As the snow melts the briquets dissolve dispersing the pesticide to help control the mosquito population

i am leaning towards draining right now. Will make a final decision tomorrow after seeing the close in forecast. Don't think we are going to get much a of break during the day temperature wise thru Friday.

Cutting off and draining

I cut off and drained. I had to clean filter outs (DE filters) 1st of March anyways, along with I haven't drained any water in about 3 years. So this weekend I drained a 1/4 to a 1/3 of it out.

I'm draining again. It's just easier, and if I don't lose power, I don't want it to run constantly.

I'm going to let mine run on freeze guard and not drain. My water temp is 47F now and should rise a bit today too before the cold arrives. But I'll protect my equipment from freezing rain in case I need to drain it in a pinch.

I let my pool ride and I may actually just run the heater Tuesday & Wednesday night to keep the temps up. Doing so saved me during the 22 cold when we lost power for a bit.

Is the concern power outages? This is a harsh but relatively quick cold spell. My pool ran for several days in a row in January.

I find sometimes the issue is when you drain, those annoying spots in valves etc that don't fully drain and freeze up.
