Went to the Sugar Land location with my familia a few weeks ago, and it wasnt bad, but its not as good as you remember it 20 years ago.

It went downhill in the late 90s and was borderline until a few years ago. They raised the prices and possibly changed the ingredients(?), but it has been much better the last few times I've visited.

Dont ever get the chile relleno. They put raisins and cinnamon or something in it and it wasnt even close to edible. (i'm not picky at all- and could hardly finish a single bite)

Solid Enchilladas and Tacos al carbon.

Oh, and where else can you still get the vaunted queso dome puff

Hells yeah.

cheese Enchilladas and drinks. Get this only. Rest is average at best. They did step up their salsa a few years ago.

Their chile gravy, puffy taco and queso puff haven't changed in 30 years. That's why I am a regular and frequent customer.

Went to Kirkwood & Memorial location last night, and the fajitas were pretty good. Definitely well above the average.

I was out in Sugar Land and my Dad and I hit it up last week. He asked me where I wanted to go and I have no idea why I responded with Los Tios.

Not bad at all. Probably hadn't been there since high school.

It's not find dining by any stretch of the imagination, but as far as good generic Tex-Mex goes, it gets the job done just fine.

The Meyerland location is as solid as I remember it. The cheese puff dome is greatness.

My wife and I frequent the Meyerland location as well. I could go for some chips and their green sauce right about now.

We go to Meyerland as well. If you get the oldest lady (usually in the section up front with the big round table), you dang well be ready to order right away. She can turn some tables and doesn't take "we'll need a few minutes" lightly. Love her.

Meyerland location. Wife always get the cheese enchiladas. The frozen margaritas are pretty damn good.

Thread "forced" me to go to Meyerland location last night. Great as usual.

Family went to the Westhiemer location for 25+ years, usually waited on in the bar by the Russian waiter, Vladimir; he spoke 4 or 5 lanquages and could sing like an opera star...loved the ladies as well.

Queso did change a few years back when Skeeters bought the chain and is not as good; the queso was the reason LT was a hit w/ my family. A waitress said they'd changed the recipe, a lot of regulars complained and they had not got it right again.

Frozen margaritas still some of the best in the city.

Skeeters is another place I hadn't been since high school and I hit recently. We used to go there all the time when there weren't nearly as many dining options in Sugar Land. Still as good as I remember.

This is my family's staple place. Sanchez takes care of you at the SL location for sure. I'm still pissed that they changed the salsa from what it was in the 90's, but it's gotten A LOT better in recent years. Still not as good as before, but definitely above average now. They don't **** around with their margaritas either. Those things are LETHAL!

Above average? I dunno. It's good for what it is, below avg. greasy mexican food.

Feel free to never go to Los Tios again, Barry. It will lessen the nightly wait for "below average mexican food". All of those people who regularly pack the house (and everyone who posted on this thread) are obviously wrong for liking it, and you are the one who is right.

IMO, it's EXACTLY what a Tex-Mex place is supposed to be.

Sure, you can go to some more upscale places and get better quality/ingredients, but you pay a heck of a lot more.

I can walk from home to the Sugar Land location,so we occasionally. Seems for the quality it ought to be a bit cheaper, but its pretty good. we just generally make the 5 minute drive to Lopez's for our cheese enchilada fix.

Yeah, Lopez is better than Los Tios. They both are very much heavy on the Tex part of Tex-Mex (as in pretty Americanized) but they are both good.
Third Coast Horn
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think Los Tios is better than Lopez, but Lopez is really good too. I wouldn't call them that American...Gringo's is more Americanized imo. That place is pretty good too, but their drinks are weaksauce. FYI, you can get a michelada at Lopez.

Been going to the one of memorial since I was a kid. Love the cheese enchiladas and the tacos al carbon. My grandparents still drive twice a year from Oklahoma for their frozen margaritas.
BarryProfit

I'm not saying it's dog****. Maybe instead of saying it's below average I should have just said cheap greasy texmex. There is certainly a place for that and I have been to LT many times, I just wouldn't call it above average mexican food.
