IMO, it's EXACTLY what a Tex-Mex place is supposed to be.

Did not expect one of those weirdo kid "boutique" joints to get advertised on a bumped 14 year old thread about mediocre TexMex.
Men, you do NOT have to let your wife dress your sons in this garbage.
This type of apparel is a gateway to transdom. /me, a xennial who was forced to wear pretty much the exact same fruity sh** for holidays back in the early 80'sMega Lops said:

Yeah Los Tios gets crazy packed. Saw that they are even selling merch up front now too.megs03 said:
I went to the Kirkwood location on a week night a few months ago and couldn't believe the happy hour crowd! I hadn't eaten there in ages and definitely thought the food was better! We tried to go again on a Friday recently and couldn't find a place to park so ended up at La Hacienda instead...also a classic!!
If that's the old Karaoke singer that used to rock La Hacienda back in the nineties/early 2000's, we saw him do "Enter Sandman" one night and it was awesome.RustyBV said:
Juan Jesus singing Louisiana Saturday night at LaHa on a Friday night is all-time classic, love Joan Jesus...
You realize it wasn't an online ad, right? Thedrumboy said:Mega Lops said:

La Hacienda used to be a solid dependable place from what I remember, but last time we went (6-8 mo ago) it was noticeably worse. Still, not horrible, as I don't know if there is such a thing as horrible Tex-mex down here, but we were disappointed. Hopefully just an off night.
Is this the one on TangleWilde & Westheimer?HtownAg92 said:
I was back in the Tine for work and went to the Tanglewood Los Tios. Not an old-school location, but food is pretty much the same. Tacos didn't seem quite as puffy, but otherwise the same as I've had for 50 years.
Will say that the bar there was talent-rich.
No, San Felipe.drumboy said:Is this the one on TangleWilde & Westheimer?HtownAg92 said:

I'm not sure, but I remember the Acapulco platter that has one on the first course plate with a taco and guac, followed by two cheese, tamale and rice and beans being only a few bucks in the mid/late 70's (Kirkwood). Best Tex-Mex platter ever. Hasn't changed except for price.Stat Monitor Repairman said:
What was the price of a Los tios puffy queso in 1970?

You go to La Hacienda for the atmosphere, not the food. You haven't lived until you've heard the old man at the karaoke machine belt out 80's country music while two dozen kids are playing a game of tag, and their moms are ignoring them while slamming down margs.
Meyerland location was like family. Wife and I were regulars on Friday nights pre-kids, then back with kids in car seats and high chairs for every birthday. When all of us Meyerlanders got flooded out by Harvey, a lot of our regular waiters were at the Sugar Land location exiled with us. They were back in Meyerland when we moved back to the area after 5 years on the Norf Side (we did La Hacienda as our spot there).Ragoo said:
I love Los Tios, meyerland location

While we're talking about Los Tios, can I lament them letting Skeeters wither? I loved skeeters when I was in hs
