I am thinking 7 pm Tuesday at Goode Company BBQ on 290. It seems central in Cypress should be easy enough to get to at that time.

It also should be fairly slow at that time so we should be able to get everything accomplished

This has been tried at least 3 times in the last 20 years. The Assoc will not sanction a club for us. They are protecting the Houston club. Got into quite a fight over this 9 or 10 years ago. Katy has one because it is a distinct town.
I tried to explain that for us who live and work out here the ability to get to the Houston daytime events is NIL. Its almost easier to get to BCS than inside the loop from out here during the week. The Houston bunch used to schedule some events out here in order to try and placate us but I'm not sure how that went. I don't follow them anymore so I don't know what's going on anymore.
I think CypressAg spearheaded the last effort , I think he still posts on this. Chime In

I say we give it another go. With the development of the cypress area there is a huge potential to do some good things out here.

I'm on call Tuesday night, but I'm game for a Cypress club!

Area has grown quite a bit in 10 years. And Goode Co sucks. Future meeting places must be elsewhere.

We made a run at having a club around 5 or 6 years ago and were told we couldn't for the reasons above. I'd have to think the 40,00+ new people out here would help them reconsider.

I kind of agree with the association. Like it or not we all still live in Houston, we don't need associations for every subdivision. I think your time would be better spent contacting the Houston club and seeing about organizing and hosting events in your burb

We did try and work with the gang in Houston. If memory serves they said 1 or 2 things a year might work out 290. But they have the same issue we have. No one who is inside Beltway and 290 will even try and fight traffic to get to an event out our way. They have a robust club without us.
One of the things I thought about years ago was using Waller County as the address. Form a Waller club and then meet on 290 in Cypress. That was before all the new stuff out towards Mueske so it didn't work.
You guys need to be creative. I've talked to Porter at length and he flat says Houston Club is it, no Cypress. Kingwood and Clear Lake areas have the same issue. Try getting from NASA to a Howdy Club event downtown at 5:30

Let's get the signatures first. Then I will argue our case and get the club accepted

Also we are not starting a heights A&M club. That would be ridiculous. As the development of 290 and 99 increases the center of CyFair has been shifting west. Fairfield is 34 miles from downtown. And will soon be the center of cypress. This is 5 miles further than Katy, TX who has their own independent club.

A CyFair A&M club would encourage more resident in the Cypress area to be involved in the Club as well as the Association. Currently there is a huge barrier for a lot of us to participate.... Distance. While earlier a poster had mentioned that the Houston A&M Club stated they were going to organize events OTL to accommodate clearly that was years ago because the majority of their events are downtown.

Look the Role of the A&M Club is to "To strengthen and renew friendship formed in student days and support the interests of Texas A&M University". There is a significant gap in the fulfillment of this in my area. This needs to be addressed.

If the same conditions exist in the NASA Area, or the Woodlands I don't see a reason why y'all wouldn't have an independent A&M club as well.

I'd sign up!

So Pearland, Baytown and the Bay Area are all allowed to have separate clubs, but not Cypress. This doesn't make sense!

Any updates

As of right now, no updates until we meet tomorrow evening. At Goode Co, we will need to do the following:

1. Sign the charter (25 signatures minimum)
2. Elect Officers
3. Elect Board of Directors

Once those are done, we will submit our charter packet to the Association to await final approval. Andrew has done a great job getting the ball rolling and advocating why we need this club to the Association. I feel we are in great shape. Although we only NEED 25 signatures, the more we can get, the better. Encourage any Ags you know to show up tomorrow.

CyFair Ags
This is an important issue. As CyFair continues to develop the need for a CyFair A&M is more important than ever. With over 12,000 former students living in the CyFair we are definitely large enough to have our own club.

I don't see this as competing with the Houston A&M Club at all in fact I would encourage members of the potential CyFair A&M Club to be involved in neighboring club's activities whenever possible.

I also definitely see this club as an opportunity to do good in our community. Raise money for Scholarships to students from CyFair, participate in community outreach events, show people that being an Aggie is about more than just Athletics. It would also be a great way for us to keep the Aggie Spirit alive within us.

So spread the word.

We need at least 25 Signatures to complete the application but I believe we need to send a message and have as many as possible.
