I wish more people had the humility of UBL.

He was born into wealth but lived simple.

Truly an inspiration.

Very nice. I think the Seamasters without the helium escape valves look much sharper, yet still look distinctively Omega.

I'm not a fan of the current Seamaster divers, but those Heritage models look great. I really like the Summer Blue.

Late the party, but a new bracelet, bezel, and Rolex maintenance might still be cheaper than trying to sell and then upgrade. End result is a almost new to you watch.

I'm still deciding what to do but what you mentioned is an option for sure. Thanks.

Have a question:

I was looking on Rolex site at a blue Datejust II 41, oystersteel, smooth bezel, oyster band and it's suggested retail price is $8400. but in the secondhand market looking on Chrono24, Bezel, and Grailzee all of them are asking over suggested retail price for older models. Is the suggested retail for a new one less than secondhand, or is there a markup on new ones above that suggested retail price?

I feel like you're saying the same thing twice here.

The reason why second hand/grey market is more than MSRP is because you can't walk into a store (authorized dealer who sells at MSRP) and buy this watch. So your choices are 1) to go to an AD and wait for who knows how long for the watch you request. (Don't forget to buy jewelry and check in with them to build a relationship.) 2) pay the markup on secondary to get the watch you want with no wait or BS

In your specific example, you can buy that watch for $9100 out the door from an AD or spend about $500-700 more to get asap at secondary prices

I wasnt trying to but I may not have used the best language. I guess all I was trying to say is does an AD markup a rolex above msrp, and if not why is it that secondhand sellers sell above a new rolex msrp. So im guessing the answer is just related to accessibility of getting a rolex now vs being out on a waitlist for a new one.

Correct. ADs cannot sell the watches above msrp. They use the "exclusivity" and "best customer" leverage to get you to spend more than msrp by selling you other things.

So what about the duty free Rolex dealer at the London Airport? Would there be a tax coming back thru U.S. customs on a 10k new watch if declared and purchased at that shop?
I assume no sales tax at the duty free shop. Is that correct?

Not sure. I'm not a customs officer. I'm a degenerate.
