I think there is a difference in putting 10k into one watch and putting 50k+ into a collection

I think it's pretty common for a successful person to have at least one fine timepiece, often to mark a milestone of success. Maybe it isn't everyone's thing, but it's not uncommon.

Yeah, my Seamaster was a graduation gift from college so I really haven't purchased an expensive watch for myself. I do love it so though. With my track record, I am just glad that I never lost it.

Looks like with shipping, and the upgraded sapphire crystal, you're looking at $480 shipped. $420 without it. The nerds on the Reddit watch forum tell me the better crystal is worth the money.

Been I God's country all week with spotty service, at best. I've worn all of my watches swimming or in the shower with exception of one of my Citizen watches that is on a leather band. My Omega and Rolex have both been in pools and <gulp> Galveston many times. If I've sweated a lot or have a ton of sunscreen on, I'll wear them into the shower with me to rinse off the grime. My G-Shock has gone snorkeling in Costa Rica and into the glacier fed rivers in Alaska.

I just don't see the point of paying good money for a dive watch and not getting it wet. Just have it pressure tested each year and you're golden.

I explained it to wife this way when I bought my Rolex. Everybody has something they can spend money on that they enjoy that others can't understand. For me, it's watches. I could have gone on a nice vacation for what I paid for my sub (actually agreed to the deal sitting in the parking lot of the Fred Meyer in Anchorage), but after you get home, you just have memories that fade and pictures to try to recapture some of that feeling you had. I get the same feeling now when I put on my Sub as I did the day it arrived almost 4 years ago. And I'll have this watch probably for the rest of my life.

Just do it. It's a couple hundred bucks. Probably another $70 or so in different strap/bracelet options. I look back at all the money I spent on season tickets during the Fran and Sherman years and cry a little at the watches I could have.

Also, many watches today don't have lug holes, so you'll need a spring bar tool to remove the bracelet/ strap. You can use a small screwdriver, but I wouldn't recommend it as it can easily scratch your case back...ask my Seamaster . Don't be a fool, use a tool.
