49% of people in NYC did not go to the hospital because of covid. Yes, it's possible a handful in this number might have had a complication rise because of covid, but that's speculative.

Short of the 60% number I keep seeing, but continued anecdotes and data that this wave is more mild per case, and that this is likely just getting less and less severe moving forward, with what is more and more likely to be skewed/overinflated data on covid hospitalization numbers.

Errbody getting it, no one dying from this latest strain, actually from the 40 or so people I know who have had it recently, maybe half have run fever. To be honest it's more of a pain for school and day care as kids are stuck at home and most could actually work except they don't have child care now.

High positivity, low risk. Don't get tested if you can help it. Unless you just want to slack off and stay home. Booster is worthless against this variant, especially if youve had the first two shots and had it already. Coming from someone who saw 80 patients on Christmas Day.

Hell I think I had the omicron a couple weeks back. Bad sore throat and felt like a cold for about a week. That's about it.

Anecdotally I am seeing the people that have any excuse to try to work from home have tested positive. And they never answer the phone or respond to emails when working from home.

But the people they listed as a close contact were extremely responsive this week.

We're pushing 21 months WFH. I get irritated if people take more than a minute to reply via teams. We all enjoy wfh and there's an unsaid rule of don't ****it up.

I can't believe I haven't caught it. Social probably finally catch it near the tail end and it'll **** me over.

This is pretty funny and accurate. Everyone at least be responsive on teams, answer the phone or call people back. We don't need bosses wondering where everyone is.

Sounds like a great way to decide on where to cull the herd.

We seeing salaried people that +1-upped on yearly sick days coming down with covid?

We seeing people working on commission coming down with covid?

We seeing straight hourly, no work, no pay coming down with it?

Seems like people that are the most worried about covid, are the ones most likely to be out with covid.

On the other hand, the two people I know that had covid in early 2021 haven't come down with it this go-round … yet.

So hopefully this sweeps through, causes little casualties, people get some level of antibodies and this thing tapers off.

But it doesn't seem like big pharm, the msm, big tech and the politicians are gonna allow that to happen.

Covid has become a full fledged industry.

Covid ain't gonna end until the money dries up, and we are hell bent on spending another $4T to combat the problem.

It's more important for my team as my org has purchased a building downtown and none of us want to commute 5 days a week on the bus. I don't have an issue going in 2 days a week, but make me get on a commuter bus 5 days a week and I will be job hunting.

My wife did this for 2+ years and she absolutely hated it.

I keep hearing about this now being a pandemic of the unvaccinated.

How much of that is gaslighting?

In other words, is there data to show that, say, out of 1,300 Covid patients in a hospital, 97% of them are unvaccinated?

Is that data being tracked and reported anywhere? Or is that just an assumption that's now being repeated over and over?

I saw a thread recently that something like 86% of adults have at least one shot, so the vast vast majority have started the process. CDC is also changing the terminology of vaccinated for this virus from being fully vaccinated to "up to date" iirc, showing that its never ending and I reckon that will make the data even hard to parse out. Yesterdays fully vaccinated is tomorrows out of date.

I made sure to install teams on my phone. This way when I'm away from my computer or gathering real time HEB mask updates I can respond promptly.
