The last iteration of the Aeros was a lot of fun, I was sad to see them go. Good seats were cheap, the crowd was always decent sized even with approximately zero corporate support, and there was no neck tattoo "I'm a badass sports fan" element at all.

Hockey is my favorite sport to watch in person by far. The level of play in the NHL is more fun to watch than the minor league stuff too. I'd buy at least a partial season ticket package if we got a team.

Sorry to nitpick but the original Winnipeg team moved to Phoenix and became the Coyotes. Atlanta was a 90's expansion team that then moved to Winnipeg and rebranded as the Jets

Aeros games were so fun and the color scheme and logo were some of the best in all of sports.

I had an old neighbor who used to go to Aeros games back in the mid-70s and he told me that the crowds were absolutely insane.

Yep. The green and blue were dope as **** but as someone mentioned probably too similar to the stars to use.

I saw this mock up paying homage to the oilers. I'd absolutely buy that white jersey

Wasn't the coyotes jet parked at Tillman's hangar at hobby regularly for nearly a year before fart-covid? We'd see it every time we landed.

What's up with that?

You're right…I knew there was a hole in the plot there; it didn't sound right in my head that the Jets pulled an Oakland Raiders-to-LA-to-Oakland move.

That makes it even funnier though if they end-up relocating to Houston after 42 years.

Does Fertitta still have enough money to buy the team? $2 billion to buy the Rockets, and I thought he took on quite a bit of debt in Landry's to be able to buy the team. Dining and hospitality were both crushed during the pandemic.

I hope it happens though.
He is richer now than ever before thanks to casino biz being worth a ton more due to legal sports betting

Someone needs to buy the team and rescue them from those ugly sweaters they brought back this year.

Essentially, when the WHL merged with the NHL, the Aeros were one of the teams that were initially chosen due to their revenue and attendance numbers.

Just one correction ... the league was the World Hockey Association, or WHA.

I went to many Aeros games as a kid in the '70s, and I had season tickets during the IHL/AHL years until the team moved downtown.

Game 7 of the 1999 Turner Cup Finals -- which the Aeros won -- was one of the most exciting sports events I've ever been to. Sold-out crowd of 16,000+ at the Summit and all the excitement of Game 7 playoff hockey. I still have a lot of memorabilia from those years.

The Aeros might have been minor-league, but they had a strong base of support and often had crowds of 10,000+. Les Alexander screwed them over. Never forgave that guy.

LOVED going to Aeros games when I was younger. Would love Houston to get a hockey team back.

Back in my sports producer days… did postgame interviews on-ice and in the locker room after they won the Turner Cup. Yeah, that was a great crowd and atmosphere. Same kind of support when they won the Calder Cup in the AHL a few years later.

The Aeros did a great job of assembling talent during that several-season stretch. Wasn't the NHL, but it was darn close. Those were fun years.

We went to a lot of games in early 2000s. They were always fun. The team partied at KCs on Fountain View after they won the Calder Cup in 03. Me and some friends happened to be there and drank out of the cup with them.
