I'm an Arab-American who was born and raised in Sharpstown, so this show is relatable to me on more than one level. I grew up really close to the shopping center where he works on gessner and bellaire where high times is. I also personally know the guy who plays his dad, we used to play basketball together when we were kids. Mo's standup is hilarious. Other than the fact that I'm not Muslim, Mo's experiences and family stuff are incredibly similar to mine. Really hope we get a second season.

Houston is not fancy enough to get TV shows, so this is a bit of an anomaly. Good thing is, the show is pretty good. When people who know Houston can identify spots and say "yeah, that's pretty accurate," then it's a good show. I'm halfway through the first season. Hope it gets a season 2.
I'd be interested in what kind of ratings it's drawing from across the country.

It's nice to finally watch a streaming show that's actually pretty well paced and only 30 minutes an episode. I've been watching about 2 a night. Got burned out on "slow burn" streaming shows that take 7 hours to introduce characters and set up the episode 8 cliffhanger that reveals nothing.jetch17 said:

The tunnel scene in episode 8 is a real tunnel at turkey bend off of navigation just east of downtown.

Tine Til I Die and Leo-pointing-at-the-TV GIF and stuff like everyone else here, but one thing that I didn't see coming while watching this series was how newly invested I am in finding, using, and consuming really good olive oil. It's been my biggest and most impactful takeaway so far. Weird AF.
So I had never seen "Ramy" on Hulu but knowing Mo was in it I decided to give it a shot. Finished season 1 last night. Pretty good show. Believe its in its third season now.
would 1000% watch a video of him in an H-E-B trying every olive oil and rating it / explaining why it is or isn't good. Would probably donate to this video.

Mo is also not wrong about finding good olive oil. Truly great olive oil is absolutely next level. Good olive oil and a little salt on piece of bread can be all you need to carry you away to a better place.

Agree 100% on the good quality olive oil. We've been buying this brand for a while now and it's a game changer. Kind of like the first time I had homemade mayonnaise or HEB vanilla ice cream as an adult. "WHAT IS THIS CRAP THEY'VE BEEN FEEDING US THIS WHOLE TIME?!!"

It's not a good look right now, but there is going to be a lot of investment in the East End in the coming years. The Harris County Sheriff's office complex will set a lot into motion.
