Anybody know what the hold up is? All construction has been completed for months. Way longer than any concrete cure time. There are 2 porta cans left and about 2 percent of the project needs to be striped. The obvious answer is just cause it is ****in Baytown, but I was hoping someone knew something. I ****ing hate Baytown.

No idea but here to say I can get on 99 and never have to stop in Baytown again. Love it.

Me too. I don't believe I've stepped foot in Baytown since I was on a high school tennis trip to one of the schools there.

This sounds about like the Beltway North Construction at Hardy. Three dudes tore up 100 yards of concrete and then left two holes in the ground from July 3rd until September 15.

Its not a big deal unless you realize they shut down multiple entrances and closed half of the road going both directions.

I only saw one port a can this morning. So in one whole week they have managed to remove 1 of 2 port a cans. Good work Baytown.

I drive that almost every day (soon to be every day, thanks RTO work...) and I am along the same lines of WTF. It is supposed to be closed until Dec. 24.

I was wrong. The second port a can is still onsite.

Is there a sound wall that has been constructed along the existing NB frontage road? It is supposed to be part of the project, and something that was delaying some things.

I have reached out to ask for a status on this one to find out the issues.

They must've done a final walk through before turning the project over to TxDOT. TxDOT found deficiencies in something, whether it's the bridge, roadway, storm sewer, noise wall, concrete...something and the contractor must rectify the deficiencies before acceptance and opening the roadway up.

We were the design engineer, and I contacted some designers to get an update...they had not heard from TxDOT in some time, so who knows what the hold up is.

I can't believe the amount of work over years that went into this overpass. All in an effort to bypass one light on a road that has a dozen more between N. Alexander and I-10.

Not sure who the contractor is, but it sounds like a Williams Bros project. Get the project close to finished, then stop work while you turn in all your change orders. Don't finish until TXDoT agrees to pay them. Bet some of the items on the punch list required a change order...

Apparently they don't have funds to repair the minor structural issues that developed. It's now in the budget for 2026.

So ……… a year and a half and it will be open.

Actually…… I have no clue……..yet, it could very well be true.

I think that is why nobody has picked this story up yet. I seem to be the only person complaining about this. Piss off more people and then channel 2 sends in Mario Diaz.

Hot damn and hallelujah! A Christmas miracle. There were workers present today. I couldn't see the logo on the truck when I passed cause I was in such shock seeing them.
Still 2 crappers. Both now have the doors open flapping in the wind.

The trucks had isi on them in maroonisb color, best I could tell. They had some machines doing dirt work along side the new overpass, some trucks and trailers under the overpass and a couple trucks up top.

20 years ago if I had any money, Beach City would have been an awesome spot. It was cheap and close enough to civilization that you could live there full time and still fish off your dock. Now, anything on the water is priced accordingly, even though the infrastructure hasn't caught up to the price.

While we are discussing Beach City…Anybody been to Centerpoints The Pond in Beach City? It is right next to the big cooling pond. Supposed to be a really nice spot they take politicians and bigwigs to wine and dine them with maybe some prosties mixed in.

Still have not been able to figure out what they have done/plan to really do. Replaced a few panels. No reason to have taken 6 months even with the 3 guys that have worked there.

In a past career, many times. It's a neat place, but it's not the swanky place media has made it out to be. I can't speak for what others have done out there, but the most exciting late night activity I saw was fishing off the spillway at 2 AM.

Have fished that area for 40 years. But have never been to the facility owned by Centerpoint. A friend has land North of there on Dutton Lake- Rwj area. Ive heard the fishing is best at night in Kayaks a little North of the canal entrance to the lake…
