My son and I were on the floor and had to hustle after each set to get from the south side out to the north for the restrooms. It was an effort but we wanted to be on the south side since that north side was packed.

Everybody at the show seemed chill but it just looked so much like if something did happen, pyro goes awry or worse, it would be a stampede on that south side of the floor and likely mass carnage.tx4guns said:

Since it was all GA, I was really surprised that they didn't have a way for the crowd to distribute evenly - for safety purposes.
I was on the north side and felt like I could have just walked up to the stage had I wanted to. It was great. Everyone was openly smoking cigarettes and passing joints the police gave zero fks.
The show was awesomeness! Floor GA was an entirely different experience than seated the previous time I saw them live in Louisville. My feet and back are almost recovered from standing in one spot for seven hours.
The astrodome would make a great spot for a parking garage. More parking, covered parking, and more money for the venue. It will never happen.
I was a bit surprised to see HPD on the stairs looking at people smoking pot and not doing anything. Guess they were just crowd control. However I have rarely seen an issue at a metal show. For the .most part everyone is very nice and just there to have a good time. A country concert is a different story.
Most pot smoking I saw was Family Values Tour in 99; Limp Biscuit, Filter, Method man and Redman, Staind.

Sorry, I'm a Metallica fan, but not super fan. I like a lot of their stuff, not all of it. I have the same 10-12 songs downloaded on my iTunes of the songs from CD's I had in HS in the 90's. That's about the extent of my Metallica knowledge. I don't go deep into B-sides of records and things of that nature. My daughter is 11 and heard a Metallica song on a playlist of mine a few years ago and loved it, so I let her listen to the rock music I have and stream: Metallica, AC/DC, ZZ Top. Nothing too crazy, mostly the hits. For her 11th birthday, she found that Metallica was coming and all she wanted for her bday was tickets to the concert, so we went. We had fun, but neither of us have deep end of heavy metal catalogs as some. Just went and had some fun.
Sounds fun.

Best way, as a country music fan, I can think of it, is if I I was at a George Strait concert. I'm a huge GS fan. Know all the songs. Could sing along to every possible set list he could devise from any era. For this Metallica concert, we were the people there to hear Amarillo by Morning, and Check Yes or No. But we don't know Blame it on Mexico.
