Verde Garden closing, sounds like they are changing the concept. Owners of it own that whole development.

Superica had good food but the parking lot and valet situation was always rage inducing.

I get the sense Matty G's isn't going to last long. I know it's still early in their opening, but I've not seen much in terms of traffic since they opened. $20 burgers are a hard sell and that location is just odd. Can't believe that Studewood Cantina lasted as long as it did.

Cantina was run by the owner's of the building so it had a lot of runway.

It's a shame it couldn't make it as the food was good. Their service just struggled because it seemed like a bunch of kids that didn't really care.

They didn't know the menu and could barely manage the handhelds.

Unlike Alma and Goode Co who have excellent servers.

Edit: but also found this, so maybe not imminent: https://www.chron.com/culture/article/heb-warehouse-fort-worth-20828122.php

Will this be the nicest grocery store in the worst area in the nation? I wish it had been there when I lived in Oak Forest just for convenience sake, but should make for some good people watching. Turns into Wheatley right around there. Hide everything in your cars fosho.

Maybe they can hire the Bunker Hill HEB security guard who decks himself our like Mexican Special Forces to patrol the lot?

I guess this qualifies.

Trader Joe's opening a new location at the old Randall's site in Bellaire.

One recently opened about a mile from us in Cypress. I love that pace. 24 y/o me would have been super depressed if he knew how excited 44 yr old me would eventually be over this type of thing.

Not what I was trying to say...obviously there are worse areas in Houston alone. Is this the nicest store in proximity to a violent ghetto or can someone think of a better example?

There have been numerous cartel/gang related homicides within 3/4 mile from there in the last few years. And those are the apartment streets off of Shepherd (Oak Street etc). Then you have Acres Homes to the direct north. And independence heighte not far to the SE.

I just found it to be an interesting location. Great parking lot for strong arm robberies on unsuspecting yuppies. Tell your wives to keep heads on swivels.

The HEB on 288 at McGregor would like a word.

Oh damn...I assumed all of the hood HEB's were still "Pantry". Yeah, that one probably wins.
