Anyone been recently? Curious how crowded it is on a Saturday and never been. Either that or Grand Texas in New Caney for something closer

Have heard good reports about Angel Lagoon on Hwy 146/ 99 North of Mt Belvieu. Built by a company that builds across the country and it recently opened. Clean and well run I've heard.

Haven't been recently, but we used to have summer passes when we lived in Fulshear. So we went all the time before moving to CS 4 years ago. Like every water park, it's always crowded on a Saturday during the summer. But it's family owned and extremely well run. You'll have a great time.

We took our camper this past Memorial Day weekend and had a great time with our 6 and 9 year old, our first time going to the park. It wasn't near as crowded as I expected, I doubt we ever waited more than 30 mins for the biggest slides, and little to no wait for the smaller ones. It's not cheap at $60/person per day, but since we stayed 3 days we got season passes that were $150 or something like that. We're planning on going again before school starts so we'll get our money's worth out of them.

We are season pass holders at Splashway and have been multiple times this year. It is awesome. I describe it as, 'If Chik Fil A operated a water park'

-It is far enough out of town that the undesirables can't dump their kids there as cheap baby sitting (RIP astroworld). This is the biggest selling point in my mind.
-It is very clean, dress code is generally enforced. You'll see a bit of non family friendly overly revealing swim wear but way less than any other type of water activity or water park.
-They allow you to bring in food.
-The attractions are nice and well kept. Nothing seems old or outdated.
-They are pretty quick to ask large groups of kids who are causing problems where are the chaperons and will remind you over the speakers. Groups of kids causing problems is rare in the first place.

On saturdays in the summer expect to wait in line for rides. The park opens at 11AM, but they'll let you in a bit early to get your spot set up and then they'll announce you can get in the water. If you want to make the most of your day be there right at open or stay til closed. There's about an hour window on each of those where it isn't super packed.

There's two rides that generally have quicker runs regardless of how packed it is. The Summit Plummet because its a straight drop and Rays Riptide because it has a pretty significant drop in it.

They also have a bar, which is nice

Do you need to bring a credit card for the bar? Or is there some way to 'charge it to the room'?

If I'm paying $60/person, there better be.

Exact same thing we did except we have a 4 and 7 yo. First time going to the park and it was on Memorial Day weekend. Everyone had a blast. To get our moneys worth on the season passes we are going again next Thursday through Sunday. Curious if the crowds will be about the same. The RV park and pretty much all cabins were sold out memorial weekend but it never felt like it was too crowded.

To avoid the bar tab we would make frozen daquiris and margaritas the night before in the RV (Lt. Blenders pre-mix is the way to go) and pour them in a 40oz yeti cup before going in the park.

We will be there 17-20.

How hard do they check the ice chests? Can I sneak a couple beers in? I don't mind paying at the bar, but would rather save a couple bucks. I would sneak in booze, but I try to stay off the liquor until the sun goes down. Or at least until around dinner time. Or, after lunch. Really, whenever, but I try to delay it.

Same days we're going!

They do check coolers "loosely". Although we had several in our group with miller cans in a cooler and they used a koozie and nobody said anything. And one of my buddies filled a yeti with a few beers.

The good part is if you're in an RV or cabin you can come and go all day from the waterpark portion. So refills are fairly easy.

For my Splashway getaways with family and friends, I like to add what I call the "Sheridan Floater" on top.

Inevitably someone will run out of beer, so get in your side by side or golf cart and exit the park via an opening wide enough to fit through from the main parking lot.

If you planned correctly you have a few roadies with you so you can booze cruise the dirtroad back streets of Sheridan all the way to the Dollar General on Highway 90. Restock quickly and take some time to explore before heading back into the park.

Dollar Generals sell beer? Maybe the only one I've been to in 20 years was in a dry county but there was sadly no beer.

just be prepared for the dollar store level of beer selection. Busch light, Budweiser, miller lite etc. also good chance some six packs have been broken and cooler may be hot

We went in July and stayed at the cabins, while not huge they work just fine for sleeping and showering and then kind of cookout like a picnic or rv,ing

We got a cabana which I thought was worth it because you have a waiter, bar serves decent drinks, food is overall decent but we usually packed sandwiches and water and then filled a yeti or two of drinks then bought the rest there.

As long as your kid is over 48 inches they can ride everything, although most of the tube rides will need an adult with them.

Lines are long but move fairly fast.

At night they have a restaurant with an outdoor stage and picnic tables and have live music every night, kids enjoyed running around and listening to music and us adults sat and had a few beers and chilled.

Overall it was a lot of fun and had a mix of mostly decent people with some mixed in wtf but I saw no ridiculousness.

My kids had a blast and us adults had a good time too.

My knees and feet hurt for a few days because you will climb more stairs than you probably have since college or highschool

We have friends that take their RVs there regularly and we went a couple years ago to throw up the AC'ed yurt to do some glamping. It turned out to be a disaster, someone had jacked our spot's picnic table, one side had a family with a dog that barked all night, and the other side had at least 3 generations, a total of 5 tents, and an outdoor play pen with 2-3 dirty toddlers. We only stayed one night though we paid for 2.

The waterpark was fun and we spent most of the time at our friend's cabin, which we'd rent next time. They took out the tent camping spots since we went.

The ones who are wearing decent bathing suits would rightly object to me using a camera.

The ones who are not wearing decent bathing suits, I'm sure you can find better photos of them on instagram. I bet they tag themselves for easier sorting.

If people watching and drinking is your prime objective, you'd have a better time just bringing a cooler full of beer to share to one of the nicer apartment pools in college station.

We have stayed at the camp grounds with extended family yearly for the last 5 years. It's not too crowded and the water park is actually pretty good. Saturdays are obviously a bit more crowded but Sundays, especially in the morning is great. Just got back from Disney, went to Blizzard Beach there and the rides at Splashway are definitely better.

As far as the crowd, it is family oriented. The location keeps out a lot of unaccompanied teens and other troublemakers, it's a trip for most people. If you're going for eye candy there's not a lot. It's mom's and daughters, so not much to see or that you should be looking at.

Worst clientele I've seen in all my trips there was a man covered in obvious Nazi tattoos, including swastikas. Walking around shirtless with his wife and kids like it was no big deal. He was there all day so I guess staff didn't have a problem with it.
