I just moved to Canyon.

Can talk more about that later but the critical question is... where can I watch the game? Thought I was going to have it set up but the world has conspired against me.

I'd go with the Amarillo A&M Club

Join us Tonight, August 28th at the IDK Sports Bar and Grill to watch the Aggie BTHO South Carolina!

The only places in town (Canyon) with TV are Buffalo Wild Wings and Feldman's. If you want to stay in town, call one of them and see what they have planned.

Oops, sorry. Buffaloes on the east end of 4th Avenue, between the two new motels. Not a BWW.

I think I'm going to the BW3's on South Coulter in Amarillo. WT is also hosting a meet the Buffallo's event and I work there now, so can support both.

Unfortunately, my son has football practice at 5:30 I'll miss the first half.

Any opinion on building new on purchased acreage?
Sometimes it can be hard to find rural housing plots. People around here tend to hold onto their land and aren't generally interested in selling off an acre or two out of a section.

What kind of business are you going to start if you know?

Sorry for this very late reply.

We wouldn't likely start any businesses, just purchase existing businesses that we feel are performing under their potential. It sounds cliche, I know, but I have experience doing it and I enjoy the whole process of a team/business coming together. I get a lot of personal satisfaction from it.

I don't deal with the "we need to fire everybody" types of situations, as I have worked for those types of people in the past and hated the experience. I found those types of owners to be cruel and unconcerned that their actions were the direct cause of others becoming unemployed. I prefer to work with people whose businesses are okay, but don't quite have the necessary "stuff" required to grow it into something bigger.

Why do you ask?

Take a look at Panhandle. Small town, 30 miles from Amarillo and all the bigger city stuff, great school system with a great history and friendly folks. By the way, as of last nights vote, Canyon is no longer a dry town.

Shallowater. Ten minutes from Lubbock. Currently 3A school, with excellent academics, sports, student organizations, and Ag programs. Housing available but goes fast.

Ha! Was just thinking of this thread.

Definitely still the plan, but the oil market has put it on hold for a year or two. I'm a patient guy, so I'm not worried. Plan on doing a Spring Break trip out there with my wife and kids. I grew up on the Coastal Plains and every time I see pics of the Panhandle on here, or old pics on Traces of Texas, I get really antsy to make our move. There is just something about flatland farming and ranching that I love to be around.

Spring Break can either be awesome or horrid, depending on weather. I bet this will be a good one. El Nino should make us warmer and wetter than normal.

And Palo Duro, Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, and Caprock Canyons are still my top three must-sees. Holler if you want more and/or more specifics.

I'm blushing, but thanks. I enjoy photography, I enjoy the area, I like sharing it. Some people probably think I over-share.....

OP I just moved to Plainview in August from the West Texas area. I love it! It is almost in the middle of Amarillo and Lubbock. (45 miles from Lubbock and 60 from Amarillo) Its a bit larger than Canyon, but not right next to a large city. I work in Agriculture and its a good Ag area (even though the market is not doing well). There are a lot of good people here. I have lived in small towns all my life (excluding my time in College Station) and Plainview is by far the town I have enjoyed the most. I recommend at least checking it out if you are considering the area.

CanyonAg- I am not trying to knock Canyon in anyway. I like Canyon, I am up there a lot for work and it is beautiful. I just figured I would give OP my two cents.

No offense taken. I grew up in Hale County, west of where the Azteca plant is. Went to school in Hale Center. Still have lots of friends and relatives in the area

And if you like PVW, you'd love Canyon. PVW and HC are nothing like they were when I was a kid. Gone downhill quite a bit.

Both my kids, including my son, class of '09 were born in PVW.
