True West Magazine ranked the venues based on the quality of the exhibitions and their ability to reach audiences of all ages.
quote:That was SUCH a bad location. It was a Stripes(?), then the Marsha Sharp Freeway was built and kinda cut it off. It was at the bottom of a pedestrian crossover. She tried to come in with the restaurant and make it work, but it was just too hard to get to. And then apartment construction further made access difficult and I guess she couldn't overcome that.
Mean Woman?
They are no longer there. Property got bought.
quote:Number 1 was Boot Hill in Dodge City, Kansas. I've been to that one, it had more of a tourist trap feel. But since the magazine doing the rating is focused on the old west, I guess I understand. PPHM is more than just "the old west" with cars, fashion, art, palentology, and petroleum exhibits.

Owner Ben Johnson had hoped to have his Imperial Taproom pub and eatery in Canyon ready for patrons Aug. 30, but the opening has been pushed back to Sept. 9.
"It's due entirely to construction delays," he said.
His business will open on the square on 15th Street in a space once occupied by Bella Grocery Store, a building more than 100 years old.
When it opens, Johnson plans to feature craft beer, with 22 draft lines and a rotating lineup of 75 bottles.
As a former manager of Alamo Drafthouse locations in Houston and Lubbock, Johnson said he prides himself in finding a beer for someone based on that person's preferences. "It's about tailoring a beer to everyone's taste," he said.
The pub also will have full lunch and dinner menus, weekend brunches, as well as beer dinners and wine dinners with specific pairings.
Johnson hopes it will offer "the finest dining in Canyon, covering everything from burgers and brisket to chicken, salmon and steak."
