That was SUCH a bad location. It was a Stripes(?), then the Marsha Sharp Freeway was built and kinda cut it off. It was at the bottom of a pedestrian crossover. She tried to come in with the restaurant and make it work, but it was just too hard to get to. And then apartment construction further made access difficult and I guess she couldn't overcome that.

Number 1 was Boot Hill in Dodge City, Kansas. I've been to that one, it had more of a tourist trap feel. But since the magazine doing the rating is focused on the old west, I guess I understand. PPHM is more than just "the old west" with cars, fashion, art, palentology, and petroleum exhibits.

And they didn't have real french fries!!

"It's due entirely to construction delays," he said.

When it opens, Johnson plans to feature craft beer, with 22 draft lines and a rotating lineup of 75 bottles.

And one more suggestion for Amarillo/Canyon......drove through Umbarger the other night, and was reminded. There is a nice little steak house, Rafter G, in Umbarger on highway 60. (Okay, almost all of Umbarger is right off 60) They are only open on the weekends, they have a bar for those inclined, and Friday night is all you can eat catfish fry. Very good.

If you have some extra time, hit the web site for St. Mary's Catholic Church, and hit the "Tour our Church" link. Fascinating art work there, done by WWII Italian POWs.

After, drive south about 2 miles on highway 168 to the Wildlife Refuge and walk off your meal. Or simply drive down 168 a few miles to auto tour.

As you head to the refuge, watch on the left (east) for the buffalo in the pasture of the old Dory Funk Ranch.

Do not risk Evie Mae's being sold out at dinner, go at lunch only. We went Saturday at noon and they were already marking stuff off the list before we got up to the register.
