Dust storms can occur statewide at any time of the year, but they are most prevalent in the High Plains, particularly in a twenty-county area around Lubbock and most often in late winter or early spring.
Well, at least they don't happen every day.

I believe Lubbutt was the town Clint filmed the movie High Plains Drifter in...
Clint Eastwood scouted the locations himself while driving a pickup truck through Oregon, Nevada andCalifornia. He chose the shores of Mono Lakebecause he considered the area highly photogenic. Additional scenes were filmed at Reno, Nevada'sWinnemucca Lake and California's Inyo National Forest.May 29, 2018

2. That's NOT the reason, which is sorta the point of the thread.

So, are you more of a Tech fan, or an Aggie fan? You seem to be more protective of Tech/Lubbock than Texas A&M. Just sayin"...
You seem very protective of the Bengals.....which is bizarre.

Bengal fans never drunkenly stormed the field against A&M and shoved the goal posts into the stands filled with A&M fans, bloodying one of our chancellors.

This was a good natured back and forth, but some of you West Texans have been spending way too much time with these Tech hooligans on the plains.

More hooligans on the Bengals team alone than in West Texas.

It doesn't look like that all the time. Some days have tornadoes.

As an Aggie husband and now father of a Tech student, here are my thoughts. I spent just about every weekend in CS in the early 90's while I attended UT Dallas. I loved it there and love all things A&M. Our daughter loved the Tech nursing school and actually picked TT over A&M in what was a shocker to our house. I will say this...TT is much like CS was in the early 90's. It is a nice campus and not overcrowded. Due to enrollment caps at A&M and tu, Tech is also getting much better quality students than 10-20 years ago. Lubbock is not bogged down in traffic and has just about every chain imaginable. It is a pretty good city for the most part. Yes, it has dust storms and the football just plain sucks. But it is a great college town and provides for a pretty good college experience. This was hard to type but is true...sorry. Gig 'em.

HEB owns land at 114th and Quaker. That's public knowledge. Not sure when they will build. They are working on another site more in the middle of town. I can't reveal where just yet.

I will say the Overton/Broadway area adjacent to Tech's University Ave. absolutely blows A&M's Northgate out of the water

No comparison

If it's such a great place why don't they have top 10 recruiting classes every year, or for that matter top 20? we seem to be in that mix regularly and have been for many many years.

In fact I wonder when is the last time Tceh had a better recruiting class than A&M...
Well, given that A&M is a 60,000 student university with world-recognized academics and nationally recognized athletics and has been around for over 150 years v. a school of less than 40,000 that's been around for less than 100 years and only just beginning to be recognized athletically or academically, not really a valid comparison.

What many are doing here on this thread is making a comparison, so it's valid. And by your logic we get all of these 4 and 5 star athalets because of our academic reputation and they get primarily 2 and 3 star for the same reason...
