I'm still a bit irked that a monster steak costs $7.75 here and in College Station it's what...$6.25? Oh well...

Yeah the prices are a little high....I miss the old school Cilantro's before they had an ownership change.

does anyone know if freebird's will ever open in amarillo now that they are coming north?

I consider lubbock lucky to get one. I figure they would put some in dallas, houston, or sa before they would go to amarillo.

Just my .02

On the upside of the higher prices, they don't slight you on your rice, cheese, meat, etc.

Went to the Lubbock Freebirds over the weekend. I liked it, but the local Cilantros downtown is better IMHO. I guess its the lime rice.

I believe there are already two in Dallas. At least one I know of on 75 and lovers lane, but I think there's another one in Dallas. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see them put one in Amarillo.

Cilantros sucks. I have gotten meat there that was so chewy it had to be spit out. And rice so undercooked that it could chip a tooth. Plus, they have no system for rolling the burritos. They are poorly constructed with crap falling out all over the place and it takes forever with one person serving. Freebirds always has a dozen people ready to go. Cilantros days are numbered...oh wait, they are already gone from downtown.

Darn it! I only ate at Cilantros a few times, and you are right about waiting forever. Freebirds had the assembly line going really well.

Isn't there also a Cilantro's next to Fox and Hound? Just curious. I ate there once (or a burrito place in that shopping center) and thought it was pretty good.

there is still a cilantros on 82nd next to fox and hound, but there are also 2 locations for moe's, which is basically the same thing. a little over-priced though.

Freebirds location #2
University and Broadway. Should be open in about two months, if not sooner.

State of Texas is correct. Freebirds is taking the old Pinocchio's location at University and Broadway. I would estimate closer to three months before they are open. Should be a great location for them.
