The Canyon A&M Club manages Muster...and that's about it. There have been lots of tries to get more events. but low numbers and busy schedules really hamper things.
Since you are younger, you might connect with the Amarillo club to socialize.
I haven't cared about apartments up here for many years, so I was a little surprised at what all is out there. A selection from our phone book, all area code 806.
Canyon Apartments: 655-6192 Manages 12 different apartment in Canyon, and some single-family homes.
www.canyonapartments.comWirtco: 655-8080 debtardy@tcac.net Manages 3 different apartments very close to WT.
Several others are listed, most are college type.
Apparently, the management at Canyon Creek Apts. at 50 southridge, manages some townhomes. But I never pay attention to the names, so I don't know where they are. Canyon Creek is 655-6911.
One sort of oddball place, but might be good, is the Caslin apartments. This is an old single story dorm that was converted into 1,2, and 3 bedroom apartments. It is just across the street south of the Panhandle Plains Museum on 4th Avenue. 651-5800.
I'll check on the townhomes where our friend lives later. I have no idea what they are called.
As a general guideline, there are no horrible parts of town. I'd be alert if I were looking north if 4th avenue, but south of highway 60. On the west end of town, this puts you close to a
very busy set of high-speed railroad tracks. On the east end, you have a lot of WT students/traffic.
The extreme west end of town gets to be less expensive properties. To the extreme southeast, you get close to the high school. On the north, cross highway 60 and you're in one of the nicer areas, Hunsley Hills. Further north than that, you get into Canyon North, big acreages and big expensive homes. There's also a very nice area in the south central part of town, between Conner Park and the Junior High.
