Actually, Oslo http://eric.gruver.net/oslo.html (approximately 20 miles north west of Gruver).

But I work in Gruver.

Cool. My dad went to high school in gruver. I spent a lot of time there when my grandma was still alive. Still come up there to hunt.

I haven't ever heard of oslo strangely enough.

Eric-
Who's crew is that? I noticed charlie and matt in the grain carts.

I heard about Holt's combine up on Venneman's, that's always a bad deal.

There were some Hale's older than me.

I've heard some good things about Seldon Hale.

My oldest brother says he knew Mona and Seldon fairly well.

I'm not sure what crew that was. The first pictures were taken about 6 or 7 miles north of Gruver. I think they were on the Spivey's land.

Obviously a few were right on the edge of Gruver.

I have no idea about the rest of them.

I hadn't heard anything. What happened?

I talked to Nick Holt for a few minutes at the elevator this afternoon. Kevin came in for a minute or two and then left.

Johnson.

I asked my oldest brother. He said that he thinks Tom teaches at OU or OSU.

Here's the story, I haven't talked to my dad about it yet so I don't know all the specifics.

Yes. BS in 1976, MS in 1980. I went back for a PhD, but with work, didn't finish. I have the coursework, just not the research.

Eric

I will ask him. I bet he does. I was up at our farm a few weeks ago but I didn't make it to gruver. Just went thru spearman. I will be up there for crane and pheasant season though. Do you hunt any.

I used to hunt pheasant, but haven't in a long time.

My younger brother has a group that goes hunting each year, but it's more than enough for one group so I don't join in. Some of them appeared on a Taste of America show about a year ago cooking pheasant. (See http://texags.com/main/forum.reply.asp?topic_id=616189&forum_id=39.)

I did go to the annual pheasant hunting party at my younger brother's house last fall. That was easily the best food I've eaten in a couple of years.

Eric,

On my texas gazeteer, Oslo shows up as what appears to be a cemetary. Is is an actual town or is it like old hansford?

Oslo is a small community of about 70 people or so in an area of about 50 square miles in the northwestern corner of Hansford County.

The main structure in the community is the Oslo Lutheran Church which has a cemetary on the north side of the church.

My dad just got tired of maintaining our old combine for sorry yields and we just graze out the wheat for pasture now. I remember getting excited when the dryland wheat made 20 bushels. Good to hear that folks are getting good crops coupled with good prices.

Our farm in Lycan, Colorado (N. of Lamar) averaged 73 bu/A. Best crop ever at the highest price I can remember.

Still a fair amount in the fields down here around Stamford. Talked to some of our friends the other day, and they said they've still got about 3,000 acres left to cut. 500 of that is their own wheat, the rest is mostly small jobs that the big custom cutters from the north didn't get to before high-tailing it to Oklahoma.

Glad to see you guys all doing well in the Panhandle. I went through yesterday on my way from Houston to Colorado on vacation and could not believe how green it was in Dumas and Dalhart area. My uncle raised cotton in Caldwell so I understand what you go though. Congratulations on a good year!
