I don't know of this sausage you are talking about. Could it be because I'm a San Angelo girl and not from Wall? Is this a secret you're willing to share, or must the "outsiders" remain uninformed?

Our search continues. I've found that Ninfa's uses cheddar on their cheese enchiladas, but I feel Ninfa's charges a lot for what you get.

Why hasn't the knowledge of CINCO nachos spread beyond San Angelo's borders?????

You never went to support the Catholics at Wall, or Miles or St. Laurence(sp) during the fall and eat their turkey and dressing and sausage dinners????

And you claim to be from Angelo!

I think they boil the sausage at those events, but put it on the smoker, or even in the oven until done and my O my, good eating!!!

You get it from the the white building on the corner of Oakes and Ave L. Forget what the official name is. Just walk in and tell them how many links you want. Completely uncooked pork sausage. [/going to call home now to cook some for dinner tonight! ]

That's something I'll need to try the next time we go to San Angelo. Do you know if they are open on Saturdays?

This Baptist girl wasn't invited to the big parties at Wall & others, although your parties are legendary!!!

It's funny, but we have a list of places to visit & things to buy every time we go to San Angelo. A lot of the same things must be available here, but we haven't found them yet. If gas prices continue to soar, I guess our trips "home" will become fewer and longer in between!

What other places have been kept secret from me?

They are only open week days and I think they are closed on Wed.

And, Baptists, Presbyterians ( which I am) and all other denominations go to the fall festivals. They don't discriminate against other brands of Christianity! You need to plan a trip home during the Wall or Rowena weekend. Always on a Sunday. Wall will sell 5000+ plates and they have to go plates too!

What can I say. We're an elite group out there.

I didn't party with them much because I didn't drink and that's all they did. We were good friends in school, but I wasn't around them on weekends.

Franco's
Hernendaz'
T-Bears Cafe (great cheap breakfasts at the bowling alley. Go there once a week and get pancakes, bacon, eggs and coffee for < 5$)
Chef Jason's Deli (behind peasant village at lunch. true new york style deli)
Alfredo's drink shop on Ave. N
Airport Chinese food.

those are some of the lesser known Angelo favorites i try to go to pretty often

It is open, per s-i-l, but we don't think it is run by the same folks. Used to be family of original China Garden people, but heard they were getting out of it/ closing, whatever, so maybe some one else took it over.

Used to be the best buy in town.

None taken. And no offense, but you probably fit in better at On the Border anyhow.

Hahahaha... I've lived in San Angelo myself. Let me tell you, I'd rather be in an On the Border in Dallas or wherever than ANY place in San Angelo. San Angelo sucks. I've had bad service at the restaurants there, too. I guess being out in a desolate part of the state without any major highways coming through will lower the standards of service.

The best Mexican food I have ever had has been in San Antonio. Food in San Angelo doesn't even compare.

Another good secret is Wall High Schools Junior class fund raiser. Not sure if they still do it, but they barbequed chickens on huge metal boxes over mesquite wood. They are unbelievably good. Oh, and put me down as #4 for being from Wall, even though I am not a German Catholic.

We just got back from San Angelo - our first trip since at least July. We were just there for the weekend, but managed to eat at Henry's, Panchito's, and Western Skies. We had steak, chicken fried steak, cinco nachos (these don't exist out of San Angelo that we've found), fajitas, and enchiladas. Just had to rub it in!!

Murphy- Mrs.EMc77 loved to order several of those chickens and freeze them for use later on.

BA- I have eaten at 5* resturants around the country and there are just certain things that you can't find anywhere but Angelo.

You probably don't understand that, but there are regional/ local variations to almost every type of food you may find in this country.

It is just that a bunch of us grew up and like the Angelo varitions more than we do what we find in College Station or elsewhere.

If you can't understand that, that is sad. Just because a common food tastes different in different towns doesn't make it "suck".

IMHO, you opinion is what sucks....., but you are entitled to it, as am I entitled to mine.

Have a nice day......
