If anyone is interested, I thought I might try to do a scoring update every Friday/Saturday for some of the games of note, and maybe keep a little discussion going as the season progresses.
Little SWC scores:
Permian dominates again, 42-17 over Amarillo Tascosa
Abilene High falls to 0-2 after a 42-16 drubbing by Lubbock Monterey
Midland Lee also drops to 0-2 with a 20-13 loss to Wichita Falls Rider (a 4A school, mind you)
Midland High falls to El Paso Coronado, 39-23
Odessa High easily defeats Wolfforth Frenship 38-15
Abilene Cooper: OFF
Permian has rolled through their first two games of the season, but the other two perennial competitors (Lee and AHS) are winless.
4A scores of note:
Stephenville 53, Azle 0
San Angelo Central 31, Big Spring 17
Hereford 33, Snyder 29
Sweetwater 24, Brownwood 21 (Sammy Baugh's number was retired at this game)
3A:
Abilene Wylie 21, Iowa Park 7
Clyde 18, Graham 14 (They might be calling for Brad McCoy's head up in Young County if he can't find his winning ways he had at Jim Ned)
2A/1A:
Ballinger 28, Brady 0
Coleman 49, Winters 7
Post 63, Merkel 14
Cisco 40, Seymour 7
Sterling City 31, Roby 6
And.........the Stamford Bulldogs win on homecoming, defeating the HATED Hamlin Pied Pipers by a score of 35-28. Nothing warms my heart more than a Stamford victory over that white-trash crowd from the west side of Jones County.
This is all coming from the West Texas-wide scores page on the Abilene Reporter News' website (www.gofridaynight.com). Feel free to add your own scores, or let me know if you want me to track down any others on a weekly basis.
