So we have reservations for Port A July 11-15. What do locals think about impending storms? Will it be worth the trip, or will we be couped up in the room the whole trip???

My fear would be flooding as it appears that Alex cooled the waters along that track enough that 96L won't get up to being a hurricane. I'm in Rockport and there is standing water all over the place. Another 6 plus inches is going to be ugly. But if your coming down the 11th it should have passed through by then. It hasn't rained here since Friday from Alex.
