Baylor is the college sports version of a Lone Star card holder.....they are threatening to sue now that they may be taken off the government teat.

I would care about Baylor a tiny bit except for their sexually ambiguous women's bball player, the "break a leg" sign after Roland had the tragic injury, and the ringing in my ears after their PA system trying to overcome the sound of the Aggie band at their dinky little stadium.

Even living/working in Waco I could care less about a team whose alumni/fans don't even bother showing up to fill their stadium....

That's really the only reason they'll lose money, because THEIR OWN FANBASE doesn't bother to support them, so why should other teams stick around just for their benefit?

Clearly they belong in the WAC or one of the other smaller conferences when their average attendance at a game is MAYBE half of what the Ag's/Sips average against no name teams......

I don't see how this is going to affect day to day business in Waco anyhow. There were 4 Big XII home games, and MAYBE 2 that brought fans in football. The other sports are really irrelevant because a significant amt of people don't travel for them. So you are telling me that based on those TWO SATURDAYS where let's say 5,000 fewer people may be in Waco (keep in mind most Aggie fans drove in for the day and drove back), that the Waco economy is going to collapse?

I don't buy that a collapsing Big XII would all that negatively affect the economy of the Waco area overall.

Having traveled to games in Waco in the past, the city does nothing to support them. Their alumni don't live there.

Like Piag, I've been listening to this whining, except for more than 40 years

My mom went to baler, God rest her soul

I was there when Bill Beall won like 3 games in 3 years or so. I was there when Syracuse & All American Floyd Little played on national TV in waYco to a packed house. I was there when SMU & Jerry Levias came to town.

I was there when in the 70's, Coach Grant Teaff brought some respect to the program. I went to high school with his daughter.

baler is full of whiners, the only glory they ever had, was back when Teaff was there.

and don't blame the non support on the town, the students don't even support their own team much. Why should the town be the blame ?

baler kids are pretty much stuck up snobs, I know, I grew up in that hellhole, and left as soon as I could.

There are many good Baylor fans....and then there are the "Waco Elite" who think they are high society Dallas socialites....except they forget they live in Waco. Baylor fans are the same way with their team.

Give me Texas Tech any day. At least they get the support.

Unfortunately, many of us chose to live with this. I'm just glad I'm insulated a little bit from it. Our little town is a bastion of Aggies and Aggie fans in Central Texas.

I grew up in the Waco area and moved back here in '05. I lived the previous 7+ year in Lubbock.

At least in Waco, they know they are Baylor.

I've never really had too many problems with Baylor fans. Even in Waco, they seem scarce. Also, they usually don't want to argue too much especially after we took home the women's BB title earlier this year. That was the one sport that they thought they could crow about.
