She didn't come across the turn lane, she was exclusively in my lane driving counter flow to traffic at 50mph. So I had to make a split second decision to guess what she was going to do and then try to get out of her way. I chose to turn and enter the empty middle lane vs the curb/sidewalk/trees. I have no idea if it was the right decision. I do know that turning the way I did made her hit the side of the car I was not on rather than than hitting me head on/straight into my door if I had turned right.

For the wider discussion, I recall reading, decades ago, that drunks often crossed the center line, and their victims would sometimes dodge to the left into the oncoming lane, to save themselves. Then the drunk would wake up, swerve back into their own lane, and the blame for the wreck would fall on the innocent party.
