Yep, definitely not the first person to mistakenly over-torque something. The lessons we learn the hard way are the ones that stick.

The early versions of the Ferrari 360 Work Shop Manual called for the oil drain plug to be torqued to 75 NM (which is 55 lb-lbs), far to high. How fun would that fix be!

I may take you up on that. I am trying to keep it stock and found a NOS (new old stock - not nitrous ) with the exact part casting. However it was damaged badly in shipping and I'm still trying to figure out if it's repairable.

I've also been distracted recently by yet another 'barn find' type car (a 99' Firebird WS6 that had been sitting for 5 years) I acquired on the cheap. We've been able to get that one up and running - just have the front suspension and brake master cylinder/flush + tires to wrap up before it's back to being a daily driver (not withstanding some other minor nuisances like window regulator motors, one side door pin hinge, speaker/radio repair, and ancient window tint). Parts have been pretty affordable - but the labor and diag/fixes are likely why it was parked.

Start a rule 1/build thread on that WS6!

Just a quick update:

I got the power steering hoses ran and filled up the reservoir.

Waiting on the driveshaft to be shortened so I can install it and finish filling the transmission (hopefully I can pick it up Friday)

Serpentine belt is on and fits nicely. Only took buying 8 different belts on Amazon & returning 7 of them.

Connected the original oil pressure light on the dash to the Holley harness so it'll ground out & light up if the pressure drops below whatever I program it for.

Replaced the battery yesterday and bumped the starter with a screwdriver. it made some engine noises!

Not long now..........

What did the driveshaft work cost you? I had to have driveshaft work done for my jeep project - one shortened, one new because lengthening an old driveshaft is about the same amount of work as building a new one. Total for this was about $700.

$275 to have the original shortened with new u joints installed

Well, picked up the driveshaft today and got it installed.

Ran into a few issues, some still unresolved.

- Holley ECU wasn't getting power. What I thought was a terminal block turned out to be four separate terminals that I bought from Amazon. Moved all the wires to one terminal and the ECU lit right up.

- I'm getting no start signal to the starter. I can bump the starter with a screwdriver, so it's getting power. Seems that there's a disconnect between the ignition and the starter and I think it's the neutral safety switch in the shifter. I installed a shiftworks shift kit, but on closer inspection, it seems that not only is the transmission not in the correct gear, the neutral safety switch is not making contact. I will have to work on this one further.

- Fuel line is leaking in multiple places at 60 psi. Haven't fixed this one yet, but I'm going to try and flare the metal portions and replace the old rubber tubing with braided line and fuel line clamps instead of worm clamps and see if that fixes it.

- Oh and my brand new gas tank is leaking from the seams at each corner. Not sure if this is because I must've tightened the straps too tight or there's an issue with the tank. To be determined.

That's all for now!

It lives!!!!

Video incoming once I get it idling.

Turns out no start issue was due to the wire being disconnected in my wire loom that I built because I tried to stretch the wire down and must've pulled it apart. Of course, I only figured this out after I completely disassembled the shifter and bypassed the neutral safety switch. So now I have to put all that back together eventually to drive it.

Also, power steering pump is leaking badly and one of the transmission cooler lines is leaking slightly.

Going to call Holly and Cam motion to go through everything with them over the phone to see if they can help sort out the rough idle issue. I don't have any exhaust on it, so maybe it's trying to run too lean with the oxygen sensor right there at the end of the header because my air to fuel ratio jumps from 12 or 13, (where it should be) up to 20 or 25.

Thank you for keeping me honest!

It is a running and driving car now after some remote tuning courtesy of a Holley certified tuner. Turns out my issue was a) the cam is very aggressive but mostly b) i had a bad ground on the driver's side bank so it was not firing the coils and just dumping fuel.

I will figure out how to post a video of it running and get that up post haste for your enjoyment!

Hahaha yes it is, I just haven't gotten over there yet. I'm doing a car show at the end of April so I'll probably try to get it taken care of after Easter.

I've been trying to find some manually operated cut-outs, but everything is electronic these days and I am tired of running wires.

Possibly... not sure if I can burn out a 2.56 rear end lol

Probably won't pull the trigger on a new rear end until next year, after the wife has calmed down about how much this project cost to date.

I don't expect you'll have any issues, I was able to blow off the tire w/ 3.42, 4L80e, and a taller tire
