Happened to see a Rolls Royce Cullinan with the license plate "23" at the mandarin oriental palace hotel in Abu Dhabi yesterday.

Between the license plate and the car itself you're looking at about a $2,000,000 usd price tag

Goodness gracious

Can you explain the license plate part to me?

Essentially, because everyone drives an equally expensive car it is impossible to tell who the true ballers are. So, they use license plates to differentiate. The lower the number on the license plate, the more the plate cost. For example license plate #1 sold for around $15 million USD a couple of years ago.

Just figured it was Michael Jordan's since it was at a casino.

And also because of the 23

Very well explained. The standard license plate has 5 digits, so the fewer digits and the lower the digits are the more exclusive it is. A plate like this probably sold for around $1.2-1.5 million usd.

Do all wealthy people in the middle east have garish tastes?

I'm sorry but that is more than $2mm. That isn't just a RR Cullinan, but a one of one Mansory Cullinan Linea D'oro. The trim and wheels are 24-carat Gold. I think I read somewhere this fetched more than $1.6mm so tack on the plate... You do the math

Wild that somebody would drop that much money for such an ugly vehicle. Just dropping money so everybody knows they can.

Ugly SUV.

Money doesn't equate to taste. There are so many other vehicles I'd rather have, for a fraction of the price.

Imagine how fun of a garage you could fill, with 3 million...

Uber wealthy people pretty much disgust me. And no, that is not jealousy. If you are paying $1-2MM to make a "look at me" statement. There is zero chance we would get along in real life. I know, big loss for the billionaire oligarchs in the Middle East, El Gallo Blanco drives an F-150 and doesn't want to be friends

Honestly, these are typically backwards desert bandits with crazy King-like money. Gaudy is probably all they know. Bet inside of their homes is gaudy marble-everything.

If I had that level of wealth and frequented that region, I would have a classic muscle car imported. Something nobody else has over there.

'63 Corvette split window coupe or something.

Or a '67 Chevelle or Malibu.

When I was in Dubai in May, heading onto the Palm Jumeirah, I saw what looked like a Lamborghini Urus which I used to see frequently in Los Angeles in the $200k-$300k range.

This one looked a little different and said - Mansory. I had no idea what that was.

So... yeah - the Mansory version is like $900k. Crazy.

They do import these types of vehicles as well. I've sent a matching pair of K5s and matching pair of F100s from Velocity Restorations to UAE. https://www.velocityrestorations.com/for-sale/

If I had that wealth, I wouldn't frequent that region. Three times was more than enough....

Like your choice of cars, though.

Considering the truck they're on, those are probably the worst wheels/tires I've ever seen in my life.

And now that I look closer I'm fairly confident those tires are mounted in the wrong direction.

Good catch, I've never heard of it, but it looks……..ostentatious.

I'm with the poster above who would rather buy 3 supercars with 5 digit plates, and spend the other million on other stuff.

I saw a lot of Raptors when I was in Saudi Arabia in May.

Coincidentally, that's also what my buddy who flies helicopters for Aramco drives.

If you take a trip out to Beverly Hills in the summer, you can see the guys who ship their supercars over from The Emirates for the summer. Save you the trip to the Gulf.

I've also seen Lamborghinis and such loaded on pallets for air cargo at the airport in Dubai. The amount of dough these guys spend on cars is nuts.

Check this out....

I went to a local car meet with my son this past year. Some kid rolls up in a Lambo Urus, and I said, 'he must have a cool dad' (meaning...cool, for allowing his son to take the car to the meet).

The kid next to us goes, 'no, that's his. He's in my English class'. The driver was a Junior at Lake Travis High School. I didnt believe it until I saw "Lake Travis Student Parking" sticker on the windshield.

There is no part of me that understands that. Even if I had a cool billion, I couldnt bring myself to buy that for a 16 year old. I know some very wealthy people, and not one of them would do that either.
