That's what my gp said. Was running down hill on a trail run, and went to take a corner and the ground gave out under me.

Where exactly does it hurt? How long was the injury? Any swelling? True high ankle sprains can take a while to heal.

Happened 12/13.

Pain was, in addition to the spot is in the Achilles. Still a little sore everywhere.

maybe you should run a 50k on it. I heard that helps.

Looks like more the lateral ankle than the front. Why don't you just come in so i can take a closer look at it? Any imaging on the ankle?

Need some advice on a recent injury if you don't mind.

I've done a lot of running recently, training for a full marathon. While I was running over the weekend, my achilles started to tighten up and hurt. I stopped running and massaged it a bit, thinking it was a muscle issue or general tightness. Pain got worse, over the next 48 hours I could hardly put pressure on my foot.

Pain has subsided substantially after 72 hours (no static pain), but a slight pain returns when i flex my foot by walking on it. It feels "crunchy" or "creaky" when I walk - specifically the achilles tendon area.

No swelling of any kind

Thoughts?

It could be the tendon itself or sometimes the bursa sac behind it. When is the marathon?

In just over a month. I have limited my walking and havent run since i injured it on saturday as a precaution

I'd also add that the pain is about an inch above my heel bone

Thats a hilly profile. Is this your first marathon? You still trying to get 20 miles before the race?

It is and yes. The hills make me nervous about my ankle but training wise I should be ok - ive been training on a very hilly course

My office is in Austin. I think you would benefit from some treatment. If you are interested you can email me at ben@axiompt.com to get more info. I work with a lot runners in the Austin area. You live in Austin?

I do. Do you think this is a tendon issue and should i pause my training in the meantime?

It most likely is and yes i wouldn't push it at this point.

I'm out of town right now. I'll try to come by next week.

No imaging. The way my insurance works, I need a referral from my GP. He says it looks like a sprain, so no go.

I had something very similar during/after a mountain hunt with a heavy pack. Creaky, painful, stiff achilles. Pain lasted for a few weeks and went away with rest. I never got it looked at but it did go away, then a few months later after a bad ankle sprain a PT was feeling around on my ankle and goes "I bet this achilles injury sucked huh." I hadn't mentioned that injury but he could tell by how it felt. Said it was probably tendonitis.

This is good to know. Thank you. My pain and the crunchiness has gone away quite a bit over the last half week. Seeing how the next few days go, but suspect its similar to your situation.

Just another review for AD. Man is a wizard when it comes to cobbling me back together. And a fun conversationalist while he's making you cry during the repairing process.

I was recently diagnosed with osteolysis in my clavicle at my AC joints and some tendinopathy in my shoulders. I'm about to start a lifting routine for strength training and I'm curious if there are any strength training exercises I should definitely avoid.

FWIW, regular elliptical use helps ease the chronic pain almost as much as Meloxicam does.

I have this same issue. I have found that overhead press and lateral raises can be a challenge at times but if i keep the weight low then i can manage it.

Might as well throw in my latest problem spot. Wrist, pinkie side, palm side. Hurts in there when pulling any significant weight towards myself, like a dumbbell curl. Hammer curl is fine but if I try to hold the bell or bar horizontal and there is formats force on the hand, that pinkie side palm side inside part of the wrist hurts a bit. I

Check your wrist angle when doing curls. Try to keep them as neutral as possible. I only do hammer curls these days because of the strain is better on my wrists/hands.

Will do. Tweaked it a few weeks ago trying to break loose a tight lug nut with a lug wrench. It's slowly getting better but it's taking a good while like a sprain.

Having some right knee issues post-marathon. No pain bending my knee or doing other normal activities. When I squat, I feel pain on the top of my knee. Tried a couple short runs as well and I get the same pain in the knee, but not as pronounced. Thinking quad tendonitis?
aggiederelict
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Could very well be. Foam roll those quads and ease back into running.

My wife has recently been dealing with shoulder pain and will be meeting with a ortho doctor in the next couple of weeks. She didn't have any sort of indication that she injured it, it just started hurting. She says it will pop from time to time and "my arm feels too heavy for my shoulder". She had an X-ray and nothing showed up in it. Any ideas? Her GP thinks it could be bone spurs but he sent her on to an ortho.

Important to rule out neck. Any old injuries from younger days in the shoulder?

Would a collarbone break be an issue?

Edit, nevermind. The collarbone break was a long time ago and on the opposite side of the body.
