I'm glad you guys worked it out so that you could go to packet pickup. Seemed really tough from everything I saw. Can't wait for the video to drop about it.

We are going to do a quick recap where we talk about the race that shouldgo up this week, but there will be a follow-up longer form in a few weeks.

Leaving for Hennepin Hundred next week. So far, the weather is looking ideal - 73/55 for temps and no rain. I had a running buddy that was going to do it also, but he was diagnosed with a stress fracture last week, so it looks like I'm on my own. I'm going to try to rely on a lot of liquid calories this race. We'll see how that goes.

We are doing more of a documentary style video for BFC, but here's a quick vlog recap with a few shots from the race

Heading to Colorado this week for the west line winder 50k in Buena vista. Hoping to have a successful finish in time to catch kickoff.

looks like that one is front loaded, so gotta hit the climbing hard and then "cruise" in before kickoff.

just got my first shipment of Terignota gear. Will run in it tomorrow, but first impression is, this is some quality apparel. It seems to be higher quality than stuff that costs 2-3X the price.

if anyone cares, initial feedback is very positive. I'm deep into a taper, so can't do anything long yet, but I really liked the gear. The shirt is super lightweight and soft. The shorts are comfortable and fit well. I think they would be great for ultras with the amount of storage space in the waistband. I do with they had a regular pocket in addition to the waist storage, but that would not prevent me from buying more in future. Socks are a little snug, but they felt good on the run. I imagine they will stretch out a bit more as I get more wear in them.

Overall, I'm curious to see what the durability is of this stuff since the price point is lower, but I have zero reasons to believe this stuff isn't well-made. I've burned through so many name brand socks and gear at this point that I'm tired of paying premium prices for stuff that doesn't last.

If my opinion doesn't change, terignota will likely be my main source for apparel/gear. I pre-ordered the vest as well, but that won't come until nov. I know the company has plans to release a jacket and some half tights as well.

Update on the socks. If you are on the upper end of their size range, I'd size up. The size large socks are pretty tight. They are pain to get on and are pretty night when on. Next time I'll go for XL socks.

Still a fan of the shorts/shirt with limited useage. I'll continue to update as I use the gear more.

Dry bag in the back of your pack isn't a bad idea.

Jim wins the long trail world championship!

Katie will likely win the women's too.

It definitely didn't feel like a cruise for most of it. 10 min faster than last year and just missed a little of the first quarter. I don't remember hurting this much last year, but maybe it's just selective memory

Jimmy Elam is about to win Mammoth 200. They started at 8am PST. Just crazy.

Rachel Entrekin is in second a few miles back.

Black Canyon 100K is sold out. I probably wasn't going to do it anyway, but my BIL (not Kyle) was tossing around the idea and asked if I was interested. He's local, so I told him to jump on the waitlist, but I think I'll look elsewhere. I registered for the Big Bend 100K, so Black Canyon was likely out anyway due to timing.

Also scratched Bandera due to timing, as its a week after Big Bend. I wasn't excited about Bandera anyway, but its easy logistically.

Leona Divide is still on the list for 2026. They are giving an extra 3 hours for WS qualification starting in 2026. Too bad that wasn't the case this year.

Still weighing some options for early season WS qualifier, preferably 100K. Desert Rats looks interesting, but logistics don't seem the best. Anything in SoCal or within an easy drive of PHX are pretty easy for me logistically due to family being in those areas. Early season eliminates a lot of the country and limiting to 100K reduces the list of possibilities pretty drastically.

The year of the DNF is finally over. After DNF'ing 3 races this year, I ran Hennepin Hundred and finished. It wasn't the time I wanted, but it also wasn't the race I expected. I finished in 29:04. The race was more of a rod race than a trail race. Most of the course was fully exposed to the sun and it was a hot year. I spent about 10-15 minutes calling the RD for someone that had heat exhaustion. The volunteers were great, but I really have no desire to ever run 100 miles on that much hard top ever again.

Anyone here done the Zion 100K? I feel like someone did, but can't remember who.

Here. I did it in 2022.

no idea what happened to my post, anyway...

i thought it might have been you. almost texted you to ask. Any feedback on the course? I know that one climb is brutal, like 1500 feet in a mile, but i think the full course has less than 5K feet of climb. Also interested in any logistics as far as how easy it is to find lodging, crew/pacer access (though no idea if i'd even have any), etc.

I think I'm down to Zion, going back to Leona Divide, and maybe an outside shot at Desert Rats.

The course itself was not particularly difficult except for that big climb you are talking about. If I remember correctly, it comes at mile 35-40 which makes it tough. Aside from that, it's a pretty runnable course. There are sections on some slickrock that come early in the race. There are some long sections on Jeep roads which I don't mind at all because it's easy to get into a nice rhythm on that stuff.

We rented a house with 3 other couples, and I think it was 20 minutes away from the start. Crew access was not difficult, as I can recall.

The most challenging aspect was the weather for me. Since the race is in April, I was training through cool weather in the winter and spring. But we ended up with pretty warm weather on race day; not hot by any means, but temps in the high 70's and low 80's with zero shade when I had been training in much cooler weather made it challenging for me.

You should be able to find my race on my strava profile from April 2022 and get more info on the course and how my race played out.

Overall I would recommend it. The course is very scenic.

Interesting in the new world of live streams of races, how little i keep up with races that have no coverage.

Candice is getting left behind in the world of competitive 200s. That said, as long as she making her money, I'm not sure she cares about the pro field.

The only reason I know what's going on with it is because people I follow are running. It's a shame because it seems like a pretty cool course, but I'm never going to run one of her races.

Newest installment in our "Beer Run" series. Have a long term vision for these, and each one gets a little closer to what that will hopefully look like. Plenty of history in this one from The Birthplace of Spring Training to Al Capone, I tried to highlight the rich history of the area, the establishment of the park, and some places to visit.

Looks like they moved Cactus Rose to Camp Eagle. I don't know what the 25 mile loop looks like that they are using, but they've got some tough terrain out there.
AggieOO

saw that this morning. wondering what the reason is. I mean, i know there's some potential rain in the forecast, but its still pretty uncertain what we'll actually get. I guess they could be worried about flash flooding getting into the park?

At least they did it now. It seemed like when Bandera moved it was a couple days closer to the race. Maybe it wasn't, but that's how it felt at the time.

Will Murray absolutely smashed the CR at Javelina. It was also pretty cool to see Roche give his golden ticket to Canyon Woodward. Roche annoys me sometimes, but I feel like he's a good dude at his core.

Tara killed the women's CR, which made me happy b/c Camille previously had it and she's the worst. Tara has had an up and down year, but when she's on, she's on.
