Probably wouldn't be able to make a movie that was honest about how "The Noble Savage" actually lived and fought.

The events of the French intervention in Mexico with Maximillian, Carlotta, Juarez and ex-Confederates as main characters or maybe even better, the life of Marshal Achille-Francois Bazaine:

-from humble origins
-Joins the foreign legion
-rises from private to general in the legion
-heroically wounded numerous times in the legion
-hero at Solferino
-bigger hero of the Crimean War
-commander of French expeditionary forces to Mexico after Puebla disaster. Started getting too political.
-commander of French Army during the Franco-Prussian War, way to mixed up in intrigue and politics.
-tried for treason and nearly executed after that war.
-in his early 60s only man to escape a cliff top prison.
-lived his life out in Spain surviving an assassination attempt by a French journalist who stabbed him in the head for "betraying France."
-married two beautiful women. First wife was a small orphan girl he rescued on campaign in Spain. Sent her to a convent for education and when she was 17 he married her.
-First wife died while he was in Mexico. A few months after that, he met his second wife, who so reminded him in looks of his first wife that he married her soon after. That wife arranged a boat to meet her husband after his prison escape and whisked him to Italy.

I think SFC Paul Smith EARNING the Medal of Honor on 4APR03 would make a great movie.

I also think the 2 THUNDER RUNS by 2BDE, 3ID on 5APR03 and 7APR03 would make an awesome movie

There were no Gatling machine guns used in the Civil War except in the trenches of Petersburg (due to the size and complexity and the waste of ammunition which was in short supply)

and the Union would not have shot prisoners of war who were regular Confederate soldiers wearing uniforms and in organized units (they would shoot Mosby's Rangers who were guerilla units)
Butler bought 12 guns used them on very limited basis. They were removed due to their impracticality in the trenches. They were not adopted by the U.S. Army until the late 1860's.

Custer made a bad mistake of killing captured Mosby's men. Mosby summarily killed 7 of Custer's men that had been captured...

Phil Sheridan put an end to that on the Federal side at the behest of Mosby himself; "Hereafter, any prisoners falling into my hands will be treated with the kindness due to their condition, unless some new act of barbarity shall compel me, reluctantly to adopt a line of policy repugnant to humanity."

Actually it was Wesley Merritt who did the executing, although Custer was there. Mosby mistakenly thought it was Custer and most of the executed he picked were from Custer's command. Mosby's men found the task distasteful and a couple of the 7 Federals escaped before they could be shot or hanged. Some say Mosby's execution team was sloppy, others say it was on purpose, so the news would go back to the Federals. Therefore, Mosby did not kill as many Federals as they killed of his men.

As you say, after correspondence between Mosby and Sheridan the matter was put to rest, being another example of how retaliation compensated for not having a Geneva Convention. On the other hand, retaliation went out of control in other places like Missouri and Kentucky.

I would love a series on Sam Houston……done in the same style as John Adams

Yes, but that's only 8. I'd like the full series, whether in historical order (preferred) or not.

I doubt you'll find anyone willing to make 600+ episodes.

The Marines/Task Force Tarawa fighting their way through Al Nasiriyah 23MAR03.. this was briefly touched on in "Generation Kill"... Drove down that road and across those bridges many times in '07.

Everyone knows the Trump era as president will be made into a movie.. but honestly, there's so much to cover - the early years, 80's rise to fame, Miss USA, The Apprentice, and then his politically transformative years: 1st term - booming economy, internal and external chaos, covid, impeachments, capital mess ... building resurgence in Biden years, Elon buys Twitter, two assassination attempts....election day, greatest political comeback, 2nd term, shakeup in govt with Elon, criminal illegal roundup, reciprocal tariffs, rebuilding American manufacturing, etc.

it could be easily be either a 10 episode (20 hr) Netflix series or 3 hr movie (cutting out a ton)... I just hope it's a fair representation. (No Alec Baldwin!)

I've always thought that Harald Hardrada's life would be a smash hit - The Last Viking.

Something set in the Roman civil war between Sulla and Marius could be fun too.

Audiences are going to be pissed when Marius dies offscreen right before the big confrontation.
Thanks and gig'em

There has been plenty about the Alamo, but how about the first attempt at revolution in Texas? We even have source material from Aalan's book, The Lost War For Texas.
