Without him, we never would have had the Blocker computing lab where Redstone signed up for TexAgs in 1999.

I doubt his net worth was north of one billion since he was highly leveraged but former Dallas Cowboys owner Bum Bright had a lot of assets.

I suspect by now its probably Jerry_Ag. He owns a small but growing business. Follow Jerry's advice and you too could be swimming in a bed of George Washington's. Go against him, well, you just might get Jerry'd.

Doubletown, are you talking about the same George Mitchell that runs the the t.u. Coop? (surely not)

No he meant the Houston oil man. In 1940, George P. Mitchell earned a degree in petroleum engineering with an emphasis in geology from A&M. He graduated as the valedictorian in his class and was also the captain of the men's tennis team. Mitchell was the primary developer of The Woodlands.

Mitchell and his wife were also major supporters of Texas A&M's marine studies-oriented branch campus Texas A&M University at Galveston (TAMUG), donating the land for the main campus and the main campus is named in honor of Mitchell's father. The tennis center at Texas A&M University, where he was captain of the tennis team, was named in his honor. He was very generous to our school and far richer than many named herein.

I am just a Texas Aggie fan and don't have an Aggie ring; otherwise, I might be.

Don't know what his net worth was, but before he died Artie McFerrin donated over $500M to A&M. Most to athletics but a lot to academics also.

And one of the nicest and most humble guys I have ever met.
THATS MY PURSE

I had forgotten he was an Aggie. Yep, he would be the richest.

Does he ever give any $$$$ back to A&M?

I never knew the guy who invented the weed whacker is an Aggie. George Ballas?

At the Aggie Club luncheon in San Antonio, I ate with Chaz Neeley not too long ago. For some reason we started talking about Lowery Mayes. Chaz said Red McCombs invested in some of Mayes businesses, one of these being the outdoor sign/radio business.

Chaz said McCombs made more money with his investments with Lowery than he ever made selling cars.

HS classmate of my dad was asked by Red to join them in buying, "a radio station." He had just lost a bunch in the oil collapse and told Red that they didn't know anything about the radio business so he passed.

Oof
