Lance Leipold. The dude has turned Kansas into a winner. If he can't make us into a winner then we should shut down the football program.

Urban Meyer is the only one that I think could cut through the 84 years of mediocrity.
I can't stand him, but we have Jimbo and Petrino and Durkin already- so he fits our culture of sleezebag. He would be here for maybe 4-5 years max, but we make an immediate turnaround around with our talent next year.

We've been in a 1 possession game with Alabama each of the past 3 seasons. Once we had the better team (today). Once we won (2021). As much as losing stinks, we have an amazing collection of talented dudes wearing maroon, with more on the way. The best path is to just support what we have. Dabo won it in year 8, I believe.

Yesterday sucked, but reality is we were within a few plays of beating Alabama with a mediocre O Line and our backup QB. Secondary needs work but the team is close. Blowing it up now doesn't make much sense to me.

This would go over swimmingly with Texags.
Overall, the list of names on this thread is laughable.

Continuing on…Quote:
Let's take a look at the national championship winning coaches since the turn of the century:
2000: Bob Stoops, 2nd year at Oklahoma
2001: Larry Coker, 1st year at Miami
2002: Jim Tressel, 2nd year at Ohio State
2003: Nick Saban, 4th year at LSU; Pete Carroll, 3rd year at USC
2004: Pete Carroll, 4th year at USC
2005: Mack Brown, 8th year at Texas
2006: Urban Meyer, 2nd year at Florida
2007: Les Miles, 3rd year at LSU
2008: Urban Meyer, 4th year at Florida
2009: Nick Saban, 3rd year at Alabama
2010: Gene Chizik, 2nd year at Auburn
2011: Nick Saban, 5th year at Alabama
2012: Nick Saban, 6th year at Alabama
2013: Jimbo Fisher, 4th year at Florida State
2014: Urban Meyer, 3rd year at Ohio State
Over the last decade and a half, coaches that ultimately win national championships take an average of 3.08 years to get there (excluding repeat winners). Remove outlier Mack Brown from the equation and the average drops to 2.63 years. Even coaches that lost national title games of late have done it quickly: Chip Kelly and Mark Helfrich (each in their second years at Oregon), Gus Malzahn (first year at Auburn), and Brian Kelly (third year at Notre Dame).
That's not to say these coaches got to the national championship game entirely on their own. Quite the opposite, in fact. Most of them used ingredients supplied to them and managed to make a meal their predecessor never could.
You wanna save money? Go Div 3 and only recruit in state and use Texas hs coaches. But good luck filling Kyle to pay off its bonds with the sudden loss of $55 million per year in media revenue. But it is the right thing to do if you're too cheap to hire a good coach.cecil77 said:

Kinda missed the point. I didn't say unqualified, I said "cheap". We've tried the "splash buy" several times. Yeah we've tried the (sorta) up and comer in Sumlin and the retread in Sherm. But the point is that money should not be the primary metric. If a coach can demand the most money it may be that he's on the downhill side of his career.
