How about STOP calling 4th and 1 runs UTMFN (up the middle for nothing !) when you're on your side of the 50yd line...... unless the other side has a >= 2 TD lead, and you're in the last 2-4 minutes of the game.

The ONLY valid ANNUAL goal for ALL Aggie Sports is a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!

No offense to Emmitt, but his son probably shouldn't touch the ball again this year. Dude is FCS level talent at best.

Good thing you used that acronym so you don't have type out each word.

I'd find me a new passing scheme/route tree, a new set of receivers, and start a QB that can hit the target. Call plays in a sequence that set up plays 3, 4, or 5 plays later.

But, I'm sure the coach already knows all this, and is trying the best he knows how.

Yeah the coaches are gonna earn their money, hopefully. The morale of many people depends on it.

I had no problem with Elko going for those 4th downs

That's what I want my coach to do, a d more coaches
Do that these days due to analytics

So let's have AI be our sideline coach during games.

Based on my understanding, analytics only determine chance of success or failure of a particular play under certain circumstances.

Analytics don't consider the damage that can follow if not successful or how well your team or the other team is performing at the time.

Elko needs to be bold and let Klein go after this season. This is not the Big 12. If Klein stays 2 more seasons Elko's seat will heat up.

I do find myself wondering about Klein. He's had his highs and lows for sure. My fear is that his offense, even when executed well, is not one that would allow a program to consistently compete for championships.

In this era of college football, sometimes you just have to be able to throw the ball and go get points. You don't have to be an Ole Miss or Hendon Hooker Tennessee offense running 5 plays a minute, but you gotta be able to consistently put the ball in the air with success. Sure, we have seen inconsistent QB play and deficiency with our WR group, but I just don't know if Klein's offense is designed to do that anyway. I struggle with the idea that we are just going to try and hang our hat on ball control and good defense. That's part of what got us in a bind against SC and why we find ourselves in so many first half holes.

On the other hand, we are near the top of the conference in scoring in conference games, so I'll take that.

Jesus, please stop.

Love all the experts and how Klein is a terrible OC.

If you all had your way, as haters, we would hire a new HC, DC and OC after every loss, right???

And any losing QB, should be benched.

Freaking younger generation. Instant gratification required and ZERO work effort. No understanding of developing, learning and being relentless in working hard on your trade.

You ALL would have fired Nick Saban after Year 1.

Analytics definitely take into account what could happen given failure. Otherwise you would always go form it on 4th and one no matter where you are
.

You are right they don't take into account wether you've had any success running the ball up the guy all game

can you imagine -- 7-2 team fires first year Coordinator that has their team the best start ever in SEC play -- fires him and buys him out?? wow, dumb take.

Win's not the problem

Had us first insuring in sec play up
Until USCe

Has greatly improved our redzone offense
Oline play has vastly improved and so has running game

Trouble getting plays in and having to call needless timeouts has gone away

We scored 20 in the first half then had a bad second half Saturday and we were without our 2 best offensive players for almost all of that game: bisontis and moss

Those are not just starters, those are HUGE losses

Klein's job is to effectively scheme around that going forward, and I believe he will

We now lack talent and skill set at RB and WR. I'm unsure about TE. With OL injuries it compounds all the issues. There are 200-300 good and better wide receivers in college right now. How many do we have?

This is an eleventh hour, portal grab, team (50% anyway). Awesome job there, btw! But we haven't seen a Klein Offense, nor an Elko Defense yet. Our coaches are working with what we have. Two of those 4th down misses would've gone for long runs, if not for bad execution by one guard (24 transfer). Will Nelson McGuire, Jonte Newman, Marcus Garcia, Connor Carty, Tyler Thomas change that (2025 OL Recruits)? How about Lamont Rogers (5* OT)? Klein has been recruiting well, including future QB's. I'm going to wait until our coaching staff has at least one recruiting class before worrying about the future. Actually I'm enthusiastic about the future.

As for what Klein is going to do in the near future (Nov)? Call a friend?
How about QB, Nic Scourton, on 4th & 1?

As far as the analytics goes I'd really like to know if it is based on ALL college football results - in other words if you have a 3rd and 2 situation, do the analytics look at all 3rd and 2's for every team over the last X number of years and it says that 52% of the time a team makes a 3rd and 2.

Or does more data come in to play - ie your own teams rushing stats for the year, the health of your OL, as well as the stats of the specific team's defense at stopping a 3rd and 2, etc, etc, etc.

I just don't think analytics considers enough of the detailed stats for your team and the team you are playing and many other variables of each team.

You would like to think the folks putting together the analytics are scrubbing the data such that you are not using data from the Georgia vs The Sisters of Charity game in the data set.

Ai and analytics can do all those things, the team should reach out to computer science and have the best money ball AI in college football. With the new tablets on the sidelines all kinds of cool things are possible.

Aglaes (two posts above).

You are correct. It's all bull crap smoke and mirrors. here's the truth:

these "analytics say...." is fools gold like the dot.com financial bubble when the internet first arose. There were all these crazy "expert analyses" by financial wizards about how much this company will now be worth because they had a freaking website and will now be 30x more efficient in their costs and marketing.

this is nothing more than a t.v. marketing tool to entice viewers into a "fuller experience".
