Well, in Elko's first class, we recruited 17 players. All 17 stayed past their first semester and are still here for spring ball.

No guarantees, but it seems many guys come in on 2 year deals and at least give it until after year 2 before deciding to move on if they aren't getting PT.

Yeah, what is going on with this class?

Is the talent in Texas worse than normal? Or are these guys committing elsewhere? Or just haven't committed yet?

That first class was a pretty dang good save, Elko seems to have a good grasp on a kids personality. However one can see the athletic upgrades happening now that they've had 12 months of recruiting for A&M. Elko is on schedule, when we get to only needing 5 or 6 Transfers per year, we'll be on step with Top Competition.

2024 - 17 Class, 28 Transfers
2025 - 25 Class, 14 Transfers

Seems like recruiting has changed in regards to Texas. Kids dont stay home as much as they did in the 2000s.

I remember Sherman saying coaches kept showing him kids who were WAC quality and saying this kid has some potential.

We have a weird relationship with the State. Feels like 30% loves us, the rest hate our guts. We get about 30% of the guys we want in Texas too. (Ignore Jimbo, who was an absolute stud recruiter).

The bright side is that our investment in our program competes nationally.

Yeah, but I see our number being higher than 5-6 transfers most years even when we are on stable footing. 14-28 is too high. But 5-6 may be too low most yeas. I'd like it to be closer to 10 per year.

Right now, texas has 5, georgia has 6. Those two are on the lower end. However, I think both could add to it in the spring. I could see both of them taking 8-9 when all is said and done post-spring.

Georgia took 11 last year and it was Kirby's 9th season. Ohio State took 7 this year and they are national champs. Oregon is a top 4-5 program and took 14 last year and 10 this year.

I see the long term number closer to 10 per year than 5.

The offer sheet is a little ridiculous, looks like he could have gone
anywhere. Huge win for the coaching staff.
