The teams that sat out mostly had reasons for doing so.
-Georgia didn't want a focus on offseason player trouble
-Texas/OU didnt want a focus on "acclimating" to the SEC
-Bama didn't want a focus on moving on from Saban.
-Kiffin apparently wants to be the ONLY one to draw attention.
-Not sure what Mizzou was thinking.
I think UGA, TX, Bama, and Ole Miss jump in next year.
OU does not want this season filmed. Neither does Kentucky, but they were so boring they didn't make the show even though they had film crews.
By that logic, we should not have wanted to participate because we wouldnt want focus on moving on from Jimbo and the insanely embarrassing buy out we had to pay him.
Someone earlier pointed out that the reason Alabama, Georgia, and Texas didn't participate could simply be that they don't need the exposure. They are massive brands. The risk versus reward may simply not work out for the teams already at the top. For the middle and lower teams, the reward is worth the risk.
It is bad for Netflix though. The amount of eyeballs on this type of programming is dramatically reduced by not having the SEC's biggest 3 programs.
