Usually they do the upskirt from behind shot on cheerleaders, but with the overalls it was much more tastefully done.

Watched a little more. One thing that is standing out to me is Brian Kelly. Just my opinion but I doubt he wins anything big at LSU and is gone in 2-3 years. I see why Notre Dame is doing better now that he is gone.

I never understood why anyone would ever want to play for him and this show only made this opinion even stronger. I wouldn't be able to stand being yelled at by someone with a nasally voice like his. He just comes off as a sissy to me.

The scenes of him during practice. If that is what he actually does all the time, there's no way his players like him.

Not sure why they didn't participate, but is weird that the 3 biggest programs in the SEC are among the handful that didn't.

These SEC teams might regret it, but I am sure Netflix regrets it.

He looks miserable. Like dude just go do something else. Kelly needs a year off.

He relies heavily on likable assistant coaches and making sure his players get paid. For sure none of his players like him.

Why would they regret it? Those three teams are insanely popular now, and they will continue to be.

They don't need a show to prop them up. They will not benefit by being on there, but they can become a butt of a joke temporarily if something embarrassing is captured in the show.

The show is definitely great for the mid and lower tier programs of the conference. To the bigger programs it's unnecessary.

They did a great job of showing off the corps and some of our "unique" traditions. All it would have taken is a 2-sentence clip of Looch saying:

"Well, Texas A&M started out as a military school and that acts of service bleeds into the fabric of our being. It is that culture that seeps into all the weirdness and passion that we have."

That statement alone explains the Corps and the weird sit-ups and chants and yell leaders and midnight yell and Parsons Mounted Calvary and and and.... And the hardnosed, blue-collar attitude that we expect - we are not insane or weird for the sake of being weird.

absolutely it's this!

LSU pays their players large- so what do they care if their coach is a @#$@#

Notre Dame is laughing all the way to the CFP championship that they got rid of Kelly and traded up for Freeman!!

A shrimp boat captain won the national championship there in 2019, they are coaching proof already. I fully expect Brian Kelly to win a championship there.

The teams that sat out mostly had reasons for doing so.
-Georgia didn't want a focus on offseason player trouble
-Texas/OU didnt want a focus on "acclimating" to the SEC
-Bama didn't want a focus on moving on from Saban.
-Kiffin apparently wants to be the ONLY one to draw attention.
-Not sure what Mizzou was thinking.

I think UGA, TX, Bama, and Ole Miss jump in next year.

OU does not want this season filmed. Neither does Kentucky, but they were so boring they didn't make the show even though they had film crews.

By that logic, we should not have wanted to participate because we wouldnt want focus on moving on from Jimbo and the insanely embarrassing buy out we had to pay him.

Someone earlier pointed out that the reason Alabama, Georgia, and Texas didn't participate could simply be that they don't need the exposure. They are massive brands. The risk versus reward may simply not work out for the teams already at the top. For the middle and lower teams, the reward is worth the risk.

It is bad for Netflix though. The amount of eyeballs on this type of programming is dramatically reduced by not having the SEC's biggest 3 programs.

The difference, both grass eater and Big Ed were likable and relatable for the players.

BK is just a fake unlikable guy.

O yes, not so much with Les, a large contingent of players HATED him and still do to this day. Dummy almost lost Jamar Chase because he told him he wouldn't make it as WR, same with Dak Prescott from QB to TE.

Get T-Bob to talk about Les after a few drinks. There was almost a mutiny in the locker room during halftime of the national championship in '12.

I seriously doubt the viewership is "drastically" lower because it didn't have those programs. And you give the sips way too much credit. I guess it could've done 2m more viewers per added program. Idk if that's a lot or if that's accurate ofc.

The Aggies v LSU game really delivered. 1 play. Final score flashes. "LSU loses". 10 total seconds. On to more story about LSU. Our featured spot is the last episode losing to you know who.

But overall I thought the show was good, the parts I skipped around and watched anyway. Doesn't hold a candle to The Pulse though

Yet they have a full 45 minutes on Graham Mertz and Lagway. Honestly I was bored by the Florida QB1 episode. You can't convince me that a better episode wouldn't have been to take the best 20 years minutes of the Florida situation combined with the Reed-Weigman story culminating with the LSU game.

EXACTLY.
AND they had a tailor made story line with Lagway from Bryan, TX and then we come to town with our own RS Freshman starter and not even mentioned.
At least we kicked their asses in the Swamp.

I haven't made it to any of our stories yet though...

Lagway is a MOCO kid from Willis, TX. But, agree that would have been a much better storyline. If Reed kills it this year they will probably feature him next season and Id bet they start at the Reed/CW storyline.

We go 10-2 and beat tu we will be a feature. Until we are a feature, we will not be a feature. I am enjoying the series thus far but do agree they spent way too much time on Florida. That said, the Napier phoenix from the ashes storyline is compelling if one was paying attention to that last year.

I was not a huge fan of our exposure but that is just because we lost the last game. The quality of the content is good, though not as good as Hard Knocks.

Really we / Elko had a very positive / good first season. If we had played Tulsa or Illinois instead of ND and gone 9-3 the narrative would be different. We were 5-3 in SEC which we had not done in a while.

Watching it you would never know we had 3 big wins vs FL/LSU/Mizzou.

These things are largely about access given.

We've all seen the games, and know how they end.

Sure, Beamer, Kelly, and Lea were opening up their houses. Elko left his wife and kids in Durham, so there wasn't a lot to show there. And he wouldn't want to publicize on TV "I left my wife and kid in North Carolina."

We were of course going to be tighter on allowed access during a first year.

Brian Kelly comes off as a A-hole in this series. I would not want to play for him. I don't mind a mean coach as it's mostly all I've had, but he doesn't even teach them what they're doing wrong typically when he snaps. Instead he just yells sharply and demeaningly. You can tell the players walk on eggshells. Saban would yell but he'd be a teacher or make a good point, I feel like.

I get that. But if this goes to another season and the sips are on and they get 2-5 episodes, while we get the same...what does that say about the league and to the recruits.
20ag07

That they gave more access and had a better story that year.

The amount of airtime Vandy got didn't say anything to recruits and about the league.
