This team is ahead of schedule IMO by making the CFP in Year 2.

We still have less-than-elite OL, TE, LB, and DL talent (our players are good, and coaches typically have them in position to play above their talent level), but we're still not anywhere close to blue-chip dominant in composite roster talent.

Elko can recruit, and the 2026/2027 classes have a chance to go back-to-back Top 5. Then things will really start to steamroll. In the meantime, stop all the irrational whining and just enjoy the show.

Honestly it's hard to tell if we are ahead of schedule given the easy schedule this season. Next year the schedule gets tough and we will see what Elko can do

So y'all are suggesting we should have let him go to Penn State? So get a new coach every 3 years… makes sense…

You're right. We should extend every coach as soon as they have one decent partial season then, pony up a huge buyout after they semi retire on the job. Makes sense. lol. Is this your first season?

So a new coach every 3 years… are you in preschool?

You have to know that in the agent circles, based on past behavior, Elkos agent would have to be a compete moron to not try to get Elko a raise and extension early and often. We love writing checks

Lots of misunderstanding here… the extension was only 2 years not fully guaranteed. If anything it was really more a raise as he was underpaid relative to top tier coaches at top programs. The extension is not a killer.

When you consider what he walked into Elko has done a GREAT job and I have no problem with the extension.

Elko is not a "top tier" coach. He is mid to upper-mid until proven otherwise. He was gifted an easy schedule this year and almost blew it several times (Arkansas / SC / Auburn...3 of the worst sec teams) and totally sh*t the bed last night. Doubtful we win a playoff game as our running game has gone to crap and Reed is an average at best thrower, not to mention our defense getting torched by pretty much everyone lately except Samford. Oh, and who has confidence in our kicking game?

Damn some of you are intolerably weak and spineless. One loss and all those deep dark insecurities come blubbering out of your soul and you feel the need to spill it on social media.

The only thing he left out is the terrible game called by Klein.

All you sp's, how many times do you need to be proven wrong before you quit making the same stupid post?

A good coach should prove their worth, to be fair.

Coaches aren't paid for their worth. They are paid what it costs to keep them or hire them away.
