Alright Ags time to settle this once and for all. When it comes to Texas kolaches, who's the real MVP?

We're big fans of Weikel's and Hruska's (hard to beat those classics on a road trip), but we know every Texan's got a favorite stop for that perfect bite.

So tell us
- Where's your go-to kolache stop in Texas?
- Who's got the best
- And what's your must-have combo for the drive?

Drop your favorites below let's find out where the true kolache kings are hiding!

(Brought to you by Pilot Roofing keeping Texans covered from rain, hail, and powdered sugar.)

Gig 'em!

Slovaceks in West has a ton of them to pick from and are really good!

Best kolaches are Country Bakery (Schulenburg), the Slovacek's, Weikels, Hruska's.
Best pigs - Lukas Bakery on the square in La Grange.

Kolache's are overrated. It's too much bread stuffed with not enough of something.

Give me a sausage and cheese croissant over a kolache, any day. Buttery flaky croissant > standard roll

Can we all at least agree that a "Pig in a Blanket" is NOT a Kolache?

My central texas Czech grandma would have said, "What is dis? Dat is not a Kolache."

I've had the kolaches from the Original Kountry Bakery in Schulenburg. They're really good because they put enough meat in the sausage, ham, venison, pan sausage kolaches so you're not eating a hunk of bread. Then again, the bread they make their kolaches with is really good, and better than most other places I've been. And if you get any with jalapenos, be assured there will be a good amount of jalapenos in there!

I've also been to Czech Stop in West, but Kountry Bakery's kolaches were better imo.

I don't know. There's little place in Moulton with the absolute best chicken enchilada kolaches.

Sure, if you live in Czech.

But you're in Texas so what you have pictured are Danish pastries and a kolache, respectively.

And no need to tell me that you have a Czech grandparent blah blah blah. Nobody cares.

Czechs settled Texas, they cook their food, they get to choose what to call it.

Kolach literally means wheel. A pig in a blanket is not a wheel.

Klobasnek means sausage.

I can see you're a real student of Texas history, and have travelled widely in Bohemia and Moravia.

I give credit to the sponsor for starting a thread to trigger a klobasnek vs kolache argument knowing that it would get a lot of traffic.

I mean, what does a kolache have to do with roofing?

Good troll.

The question was regarding 'Texas Kolaches' which means there is meat, or at least the way I understand it. If that is the correct category then the correct answer is Prasek's outside of El Campo. Their little pigs are phenomenal.
