As long as they can play, rain might be to our advantage if it helps take the lsu fans out of game.

I don't think it's the rain, it's the lightening and severe stuff that is being potentially forecasted. Granted they could be wrong and likely will be. If they are right, it may be a start at 6:30 with on and off delays and end at midnight or later. Who knows. Either way I hope it dampens the cajun crowd.

I don't think the average LSU fan will wait for a long rain delay when they could be drinking at a bar.

Just move it to the Superdome in NOLA

Good Lord people. There are no rain delays in football.

If the game is delayed, it's because of lightning. They are required to wait 30 minutes after the last lightning strike detected within an 8 mile radius.

The current weather forecast shows scattered thunder showers all day long, increasing in the evening. That's when we play.

Very good chance this game is delayed at the very least. If storms with lightning continue long enough, the game WILL be rescheduled.

It's not like there isn't years of precedent for this..

Talk about overreaction!

The game can't be moved up without LSU's consent, and I highly doubt that they going to agree to move the game to 11 am merely because there is a chance of rain. This isn't a hurricane.

It's not a chance of rain. It's a chance of 12+ hours of thunderstorms and the timing of said storms is getting closer and closer within the window of the game.

It's not a hurricane or tropical storm. It's not going to be 12 solid hours of rain.

Only changed dates for hurricanes except of course LA Tech didn't want to play in the rain.

LSU calls the shots and I expect they really want to get this game in.

It was actually a member of LSU's athletic department that contacted the Aggie Band this morning to inform them of the possible earlier kickoff. So, we know they are at least considering it and having discussions with Texas A&M about it.

Assuming that decision is made by a combination of the athletic departments, field crews and SEC league office

Seems like a real chance the game gets moved to next week since both teams are on bye

Has that ever even happened. Extremely unlikely.

It's not supposed to be a thunderstorm. The game can be played in the rain.

In an SEC game. Doubtful.

But we did move the A&M-La Tech game in 2012 back several weeks because of a hurricane

And I believe it cost us a natty. Had JFF had a game (that we win) prior to Florida, we would have beaten them. We finish with one loss to LSU, and at the end of the season we were rolling over anyone we would have played.

We also moved the Texas State game somewhere in 03-05 (Franny years) from a Saturday to a Thursday because of a hurricane

If they didn't think they could get the game in, that decision would have already been made.

It may have already been posted but if the game simply can't be played because of T-Storms both teams share the same bye week next week. That does leave a window for a reschedule if need be, but like others have pointed out rescheduling this late won't happen. Only way it happens is if they simply just can not get on the field Saturday due to T storms. It's still a logistical headache to the schools, community, and fans to cancel the game then reschedule it the next week.

That kind of weather and a mud field increases the chance of injury 100x.

It has NOTHING to do with rain.

How hard is this to understand?

It's not going to be 12 hours of lightning, either

How do you know?

May not be, but you only need something like 3 or 4 hours of it for them to reschedule the game

i can't believe there are people who STILL TO THIS DAY can't let go of this what if scenario.

Life worked out like it worked out. Move on. It wasn't the Ags' year.

I'll go by what AitForceAg (Doc Sanger) says:

It's just not that bad of a forecast. Not great, and we could well have a delay, but it could be worse. LSU folks aren't discussing moving game time at all.

A buddy of mine had a shirt for that game. It was a picture of a box of Tide detergent with the line, "Can't get the yellow out!"

Whoever made those got a cease and desist PDQ but had already sold a bunch of shirts.

I don't know about that. The crowd could be completely giddy and going wild over the first shower most of them have had in months. All lathered up in the stands and grinning, missing teeth and all.

Are we sure anyone in BR is smart enough to cancel/delay/reschedule the game due to weather?

And as I recall, Bama had a key starter (RB maybe?) injured and not able to play on the original scheduled date who was healthy on the re-scheduled date. And the weather on the original date was sunny enough for girls to be sunbathing outside The Commons.

I think it was their starting QB ... and the weather was quite nice that day, lol. In the makeup game in December we were without Bucky who had been injured in the Texas game.

Internet says you're right - it was their starting QB David Smith. Also says there was 0.00 inches of rain on Sep. 17, 1988 (the original date) and a high of 96 degrees.

This is correct. Bama coach Bill Curry (who immediately became known as "Chicken Curry") cancelled their travel plans early in the week bc his QB was hurt and he had an easy excuse in the hurricane, which eventually veered south and fizzled with landfall in Mexico. Gameday in CS was hot and sunshiny
Came back the weekend after the tu game with healthy QB in tow and thrashed us. Derrick Thomas was an absolute monster that game.

Latest model runs are split on when/how bad the storms are. That wont help their decision making process. The Euro has storms starting around 5 PM and lasting until 10 AM Sunday. GFS model has heavier stuff skirting north of Baton Rouge

Those coonasses will be showing up to the game with soap bars and wash rags. Most of them don't have running water, you know.

You sissies would have to move it somewhere other than college station

Rainy conditions are expected later today through Saturday ahead of a cold front. These storms could produce severe weather and excessive rainfall/flash flooding. Hazardous marine conditions are also expected across the Gulf waters during this period. #TXwx #HOUwx

AF Ags now predicting a window of opportunity during the scheduled game time.

Rain before then again at midnight.

Maybe what we need to dampen their pregame tailgates.

I'm no meteorologist, but, in my experience, Weather Underground is the best starting point for looking at what the real likelihood of rain is at any given point during the day.

So often when this subject comes up, people just look at the summary for the day (or afternoon/evening) and see a high chance of rain during that period and conclude it will rain the whole time. Sometimes that's true, but that's not usually the case with non-tropical thunderstorms, which usually come in waves rather than just setting in over a broad area for hours at a time. That's what we will see Saturday -- waves.
