If they beat us, I expect them to have a great chance of making the playoffs. Never underestimate their mystical draw on those who have the ability to prop them up above their station in life.

Might as well throw No. 8 OU in there and a 2 loss Michigan team too. If the Wolverines beat Ohio State they'd be in even more so than Vandy with a UT win.

Uga and Ga look like suspiciously similar teams.

If they beat us they would have beaten 3 CFP teams. Can any other team say that?
Nothing looks more foolish than tradition to those who have none.

They should be, but if they manage to beat us the powers that be will find a way to put them in.

Um...congratulations on avoiding ESPN and SEC Network for the last month, but most talking heads have them making the playoffs if they beat us.

This isn't true at all.

Doesn't matter. There's not enough slots for them to get in without a LOT of help. Once the committee put them at 17 and OU beat Alabama their path basically closed.

ESPN's playoff predictor currently has Texas with a 4% chance to make the playoffs. If they beat us it jumps to a whopping 9%.

If the SEC ends up with a maximum of 5 available playoff spots, which assumes things going chalk in the other conferences, Texas A&M and Georgia are essentially locked in win or lose, which leaves five teams competing for a maximum of 3 spots:

Ole Miss 10-1
Oklahoma 9-2
Alabama 9-2
Vanderbilt 9-2
Texas 8-3

Texas has a few slim paths to the playoff if that's the case:
-if Ole Miss stumbles in the Egg Bowl, they're still 10-2, but it's a pretty pedestrian assortment of wins (some of them quite close) and one bad loss. I think the committee could conceivably rank a 9-3 Texas ahead of them
-Vandy has a losable game against Tennesee, and even if they win I could see Texas eeking past them by virtue of the head-to-head
-Alabama or Oklahoma are out of the conversation outright with a loss in their respective games.

So it's not really a case where they need three big upsets, it's more a case where they need like one upset and a plausible amount of favor from the committee.

Cfb playoff committee will do all sorts of contortions and employ numerous logic breeches to weasel Texas into the playoffs if they win on Friday. Maybe it's a bridge too far and maybe not , all depends on this game and what happens elsewhere. There's always been talk of a 3 loss SEC team making it in and if we don't take care of business that is going to get tested imo.

Well, there's two things for sure: 1.) We beat the sips and we're in the SEC Championship game. 2.) We beat the sips and there's definitely not a chance in hell they get in the CFP.

Well if you are talking about current CFP top 25, then OU has beat four teams....Michigan, Tennessee, Alabama and Missouri.

No team is getting in the playoff with 3 loss credentials this year

The only exception is a 10-2 team that lost the SECCG...

If ut@austin gets in with 3 losses, the integrity of the playoff committee is compromised and we will know it.

Another interesting thought is, what happens if Tennessee wins out? They would also be 9-3 also with a win over Vandy.

So UT lost to UGa by 3 with a blown FG that lost the game while sip got blown out by UGa.
UT lost to OU that sip beat.
Sip lost badly (score closer than actual game) to a horrible UF team while UT lost bad to Bama.

So two 9-3 teams. Sip would have better wins but also worse losses. The committee is very inconsistent with how they grade those two things.

Funny thing is, after taking a closer look at UT's schedule, they had a really easy schedule this year in that they only played 3 teams worth a damn so far and lost all three. Vandy would be their best win. And yet when everyone talks about how some teams had such tough schedules in the SEC, they usually included having to play UT as part of it.

Is there really any doubt that the integrity of the cfb playoff committee is compromised right now? We know they have their favorites and they will do what it takes to get them in if at all possible . We've seen it all play out before . Now that we're in a 12 team world maybe the bigger impact is more on seeding and matchups but there's still a lot of subjectivity in who gets in after the first 8-9 teams or so.

The committee put tu in over UNDEFEATED Florida State two years ago! There is no way in hell ANY three loss team is getting in ahead of tu.

Locks:

OSU
Indiana
Georgia
A&M
ACC Champion
G5 Champion

Likely:

Texas Tech
Oregon
Ole Miss
Notre Dame
OU
Alabama

Bubble:

BYU
Miami
Vanderbilt
Texas
Utah
Michigan

The teams locking out Texas the most right now are Alabama, Ole Miss, and OU. They really need OU especially to lose since they have the head to head on them. One other weird scenario would involve Ole Miss losing and Kiffin leaving. That could drop Ole Miss out potentially. If Alabama lost to Auburn, they would have similar resumes, not sure how the committee would compare them. But if all 3 of those teams win, then beating A&M won't be enough to jump any of them.

As far as bubble teams, Michigan could also jump over them if they beat OSU. BYU winning the Big 12 over Texas Tech would not only knock them down 1 spot, but it would knock out a team that is currently in. Possibly ND or Alabama. I think a 3-loss Texas with wins over OU and A&M would have a claim to jump Vanderbilt, Utah, and Miami on the bubble.

Cow is already out. Even if we lose to them they are still out.

There won't be 3 loss teams in the CFP until it expands to 16 teams. 3 loss regular season teams. A 10-2 team that loses the CG may still get in like Bama this year if they were to beat Auburn and lose the SEC CG.

Assuming Bama beats Auburn (which is not a given, that game is 50/50 IMHO) you have Bama, UGA, Ole Miss, aTm, and zero U from the SEC all well ahead of cow.

There are too many teams that will finish 10-2 for the cows to sneak in at 12. There will definitely be some chaos in last weekend but it won't elevate cow into the top 12.

Seems like a 10-2 Georgia would fall amongst the OU and Bama group especially with a home loss to Bama. Also, a 10-2 Texas Tech, especially if they somehow ended up 10-3.

Currently Alabama is the last Team in. If Tech doesn't win the Big 12 CG, someone from the Bama, ND, OU group gets left out.

Not so fast, my friend. They are already the top ranked three loss team by a wide margin. It is not a stretch to believe that they will make the playoffs if they beat us.

ESPN was banging the drum for them the entire game with Arky....Pushing Archie for the Heisman again too.

I expect them to be ranked 15 this week with usc and Georgia tech falling

At a minimum the sips would need one of bama, ou or nd to lose

It's not impossible but they still have a couple of other potential road blocks.

Second week in a row, the committee has made it very clear that tu needs a lot of help to get in.

Yet the bleachers will still go with the "Texas is getting in!! EsipN needs viewers!! Committee compromised by sips!! Blah reee bleet"
